I don't even remember, I just couldn't believe it when I read it. He should be telling these dimbulbs to get back to the bargaining table and hammer out a deal before their sport is ruined for good.

I just see no reason for any of this. Of course, I'm not an owner or a player in that league but it's pretty obvious that this might be the dumbest sports work stoppage in history. Hockey is not baseball and it sure as hell isn't football, they will have a really hard time recovering from this.

I really don't understand what all of these people are doing. Still not getting on my last nerve, but if they cancel the season it'll really start to hit after both college football and NFL are over. The taking 2 weeks off thing is absurd. I read the article, and I'd say maybe a week to regroup, but two? I mean I think they should be sitting down until they get a deal, but knowing how idiotic these morons are, maybe taking a week off can bring some promise.

I know I keep saying this, and maybe I'll be made to look like a fool, though I doubt it, but I think the reason these guys keep dicking around is because they know we'll all be back. Yeah, maybe it'll start slow, but look at how fans responded last time...plus a TV deal. It recovered just fine. The sport and the league won't be ruined, and I think they know that. No, hockey isn't baseball or football, and has a much smaller fan base, but an extremely loyal fan base. I know a lot of you say you're done with the NHL, and some might be, but most of us will be back. Take the NBA for example. The NBA is much more noticeable so to say than the NHL. The NBA is talked about more, the players are on TV more and more recognizeable than NHL stars, but yet the NHL's attendance is higher than the NBA, and the league's revenue was about the same with the NHL bringing in slightly more. We're small, but loyal. Cancel the season or not, bring October 2013 and MSG, TD Garden, Wells Fargo Center will all be packed. I think as good as it is, it is also bad because it doesn't give the players or the owners the urgency to get a deal done ASAP.

I feel bad for these rich white guys. Spending the last month sitting on their asses constantly ****ting themselves has clearly taken a physical and mental toll. They deserve their well deserved rest.

I'll say this -- the NHL can stay away for as long as it wants. The action in the AHL, ECHL, CHL and even the SPHL has been excellent. Great fights, goalie fights, and overall crazyness & bad blood!

It's getting a bit concerning for me that I'm starting to feel apathetic whether or not there's a season this year. It's weird, I'm really only missing hockey when I'm home for breaks (such as Thanksgiving currently) or on random Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights.

I've been able to occupy my hockey watching time the rest of the days by either going to the bar after my night class on Thursdays, random house parties on Fridays and Saturdays, and NFL on Sundays. And to be honest, I've had so much fun this semester doing those things (well maybe not the NFL part) and the lock-out has kind of allowed that to happen.

Still, I hope a deal is done soon. If there's one thing to ever miss about hockey, it's going to the games.

As much as it pains some, we're witnessing the slow, quiet death of hockey. Sure, will the sport recover and return to some semblance of significance in the sports landscape? Of course. People need entertainment, and the National Hockey League is a Billion Dollar Machine.

But is this one of the final nails in the coffin of the sport on a grand scale? Yes. No question. For with each swing of the hammer, can any reverberations be felt?

That's what they said the last time. Guys like you who love to complain about the game will come back in droves.

Yes, thats exactly what I and many others said. And it applies once again.

The difference is it took the NHL almost 10 years to return to a fraction of what it once was. 10 long years of empty buildings and changes to the game. Changes that drove many long time fans off. Or at the very least, frusterated all to hell.

Now, the league is doing it to itself once again. And is there anywhere's close to the amount of public outcry, media pressure, or general emotional sentiment?

Season ticket holders are saying "Fu ck you", and public consciousness is waning.....if there is any concern or regard at all. Also, post-2004 lockout, did the United State face the bad economy that exists today? You don't think people will think twice in the future to support what has been such a cause for disgust? It hasn't exactly worked for the Catholic Church...

And when the game comes back, what will happen then? More rules limiting big hits? Or heavier suspensions from former tough guy, power forward, goon, fighter, Brendan Shanahan? Only a matter of time before we realize what we missed, is what pissed us off when we didn't have it taken away from us. Especially if Gary Bettman has any more thoughts of tweeking the game for its betterment

A fraction of what it was? I disagree. The game will be hurt for a while and the markets that carried it before will carry it now.

It would be great for the for the game if people like you actually stopped watching...maybe some change will occur for the..betterment

Hump, I'm being sarcastic but honest as well. Guys like you should stop supporting the game, you aren't being given the product you deserve. The NHL cowers to the fringe fans. If the real base of fans (whom I believe support good, tough hockey) withdraw their support the NHL may reconsider their pussification of the sport.

You know I realy dont miss the NHL and that's sad , I have been a Bruins fan all my life and was PO,ed with this lockout when it began , but I have seen so much hockey so far this season that I dont even miss the NHL anymore , I was even in an arena watching kids play "HOUSE LEAGUE" hockey last night and was entertained watching a young goaltender put on a performance that rivaled any NHL game I have seen in recent years, he made some fantastic saves and won the game 1-0 ..
