Trust me when I say I have no money However I try and give my kids everything that they want. Who wants to die with money when you can't use it?

I am not claiming it is the world standard. 1) It is what people pay here (Ontario) to play rep soccer (especially in the GTA/Durham/York Region etc... soccer is taken very seriously now. 2) If we had a soccer system like (Europe) where teams recruit at very young ages 8, 9 etc.. then to play at the higher level, the cost would be payed for by the team.

The standard is the same all over (especially in soccer countries) but the clubs cover those costs.

Again, all I am saying is that soccer can & does in some instances cost as much as hockey. And, hockey registration is down in Ontario & Canada while soccer is on the rise.

Nothing more, nothing less.

Chief, I am not trying to hate on you, and I appreciate your response to my question, but I don't understand what you're still arguing about. I see you said we keep posting what we THINK and not what we KNOW. I think Phila26 said it best. Soccer, in the most basic of terms is a hell of a lot cheaper to play than hockey, it the most basic of terms.

Where is the admin anyway?
Is there anything better to talk about? If all they did was stick to the topic, this thread would be 10 posts long...maybe. At least this keeps traffic going somewhat, and as a site and forum owner myself, that means everything. So that's likely why the admins are letting it go.

The latest, per TSN:

Quote:
TORONTO - A new NHL labour deal might not be as far off as it seems.

Steve Fehr, special counsel to the NHL Players' Association, believes the collective bargaining agreement can be wrapped up in a hurry once the sides make a breakthrough in negotiations.

"One thing (deputy commissioner) Bill Daly and I agree upon is that when the moment is right the deal could be done very quickly," Fehr said Monday during a panel discussion at the PrimeTime Sports Management Conference. "One days, three days or whatever."

Asked later if he agreed with that assertion, Daly replied: "I hope he's right."
Representatives from the NHL and NHLPA have met seven of the last nine days, but no future talks are planned. Fehr told the panel that three issues remain to be solved: the split of money, player contract rights and who pays for the damage caused by the lockout.

Go figure. Once one side comes off their high horse and they start the actual give/take stuff known as "negotiating" then things can be wrapped up.

Who'd a thunk it!?

and who pays for the damage cause by the lockout.
This should be the easiest part. Both sides should split it 50/50 because they're equally responsible for continuing this charade at the expense of everyone else.

WHO PAYS FOR THE DAMAGES AFTER THE LOCKOUT ??

That one should not even be on the table !!! The players are not on strike , the owners have locked them out , that makes the owners responsible for all damages after the lockout ...

So...basically all the lockout has done is add one extra issue?

I think you just may be seeing that happen right now , when the owners have the gall to ask the players to share in the expense caused by their lockout , it could very well be the the straw that broke the camels back , (the players where willing to play under the old collective agreement until a settlement was reached) ..

Actual talking between the two sides would be a good start for a "breakthrough." But remember, they really want to end this lockout

Source: if there isn't a deal in place in next 7days, NHL will cancel games thru Dec. 15. Next cancellation could be the season.

Did I read this correctly?

Gary Bettman suggests that both sides take off 2 WEEKS before resuming talks.

What he's saying is that he thinks it's perfectly fine to lose 2 more weeks of the season so the owners and players can.....do......what exactly? Have time for Christmas shopping?

OMG

when is the league going to wake up and realize this idiot is the problem and not the solution. How can knowledgable hockey fans see how damaging the guy is and yet he still keeps his job? I don't get it, I really don't.
