NHL Cancels Regular Season Games Through November 30th

NEW YORK (October 26, 2012) – The National Hockey League announced today the cancellation of the 2012-13 regular-season schedule through November 30 because of the absence of a Collective Bargaining Agreement between the NHL Players’ Association and the NHL.

A total of 326 regular-season games – 26.5 percent of the season -- were scheduled for Oct. 11 through Nov. 30.

Not shocked. With as immature as both sides are being, if they don't get a deal done within the next week and a half I'd expect the season to be gone.

I'm curious...how so? (NHLPA part)

I mean...they gave them three offers and NHL rejected them within 10-15 minutes. NHLPA even called them for a no-string attached meeting but NHL rejected. NHLPA tried to get negotiation started but NHL refused ONLY because NHLPA doesn't want NHL's offer. So I'm curious why you considered NHLPA an immature too?

It's hard to get a deal done when there is no communication. Both sides are hoping the other gives up all of a sudden it seems. Being so far apart on "core" ideas is not an excuse to stop negotiating. The NHL made it through one full lockout recenty, I don't think the league will come back after two full cancelded seasons.

The NHL has canceled all games in November. That is equivalent to 26% of the season, and also 26% of all players paychecks. The latest NHL offer was for a 12% roll back that had the ability to fulfill the remainder of the 12% from different sources, if possible... Good negotiating NHLPA, now you have lost more money and you still don't have a deal in place. I hope you know that the next offer MAY look better, but you have all lost more money in the meantime. I hope Bettman puts the boot to the throat on the next offer, and then cancels the season if the PA doesn't take it. Forget 50NHL/50PA...... 60NHL/40PA, that will teach the union to think twice the next time the think the employees can dictate what an employer should be forced to pay.

Who would've thought.... Why isn't the entire season canceled yet? It's beyond obvious that's what's gonna happen. Lets see how many more stupid "meetings" there are before they finally say **** it. It's too late to start the season anyway so this is all pointless and a waste of time. What're they gonna magically cram 82 games in 4 n a half months. **** no

Yeah, I hate it when the only product you have to sell won't roll over and play dead.

They gave up 24% last time, so let's demand 12% more this time. Forget about paying what we agreed to pay, we don't want to honor those contracts. I know we are the ones who proposed them, and signed them, but you can't expect us to actually pay them.

edited to add. By the way, the players are only asking for what the owners contracted with them for. How unreasonable of them.
