Im for it. Protecting your eyes shouldnt be a negative on player "toughness." Heck I remember when helmets were for sissys.

I don't think a guy is a puss for wearing one and I'm all for protection of your sight but it should be left up to the player. I tried a visor once and hated it.

Im no longer a believer in visors are for pu$$ies. But its silly to tell a grown man he MUST wear one.

Yeah it didn't take long for the talking heads to start:

Hope NYR D Marc Staal is okay after taking a puck near his eye. Not wearing a visor. Too bad. Today's game is too fast. Should be mandatory

The pansies over at MSG are already whining that they should be mandatory.

Im pro choice on visors

How about playing with a rubber ball, or no slapshots, or better yet maybe the players should wear goalie masks. Hope Staal is ok but I'm sure that he knows the dangers of playing without a visor better than any Tom, Dick or Sarahs.

Because there is a slight risk a small portion of the population, who mostly are sometime fans, thinks it should be mandatory. All of a sudden a player gets smacked and now every one has to chime in with their bull**** logic. Goddamn I hate people and it's like this with everything these days where someone could possibly at some point there may be a slight chance under certain circumstances that someone possibly could accidently get hurt we have to BAN THEM FOR EVERYONE FOREVER!!!!!! NOWWWWW!!!!! WE KNOW WHAT’S BEST FOR YOU AND THE REST OF THE WORLD!!!!! Where were these ****ers when Bryan Berard almost lost his ****ING EYEBALL right there live on TV???? Oh yea, people weren't flamming vaginas and they minded their own business not that long ago.

They know the risks, and if they don't wear one that's their choice. That said, I'd definitely wear one. I'd rather have my sight for the rest of my career after retiring, rather than having a missing eye in my 20s.

You can thank sports columnists for that, they love negative events in sports, especially in hockey. It gives those failed athlete,no talent sport section mofos, something to write about. Like when they were talking out the wazoo about banning fighting after the death/suicides of Boogaard and Belak etc..Now they are even attacking football because of risk of concussion. Some people just want to child-proof the world.

If I played, I would definitely wear one, but to enact a mandate on visors would be ridiculous. The players know the risks of playing more than anyone else does, so if some choose to play without a visor, there is a reason.

Gruesome injury. Hope his eye is ok and that he can still see.

Should be a decision left between the player and team.

Visors don't always protect and sometime even cause injury when they get bent back from say talking a shoulder to the face. I think the decision is on the player to wear one if he chooses to.
