I'm a Nucks fan and in my opinion, I think that Luongo has to go. To be honest, Luongo had a good year and he also wasn't the problem in the playoffs as he might have been their best player in the two games he played. In saying that, he's getting paid huge money to be a top goalie in the league and at this point, he's not even the top goalie on his own team. Schneider is a stud and he's 6 or 7years younger and even if he signs a long term contract this off season, he's still going to be cheaper than Luongo.
The main problem I have with Luongo, aside from his theatrics when anyone bumps into him, is that I can't remember the last time that he's been the better goalie in a playoff series. Quick outplayed him this year and in all four series last year, he was the second best goalie in all of them. If you're going to pay a goalie top dollars, it's his job to perform when everything is on the line and he hasn't done that. Plus, the team seems to play better and with more confidence in front of Schneider. Add that to the fact that the fans have started getting on him as soon as he lets in a questionable goal and it's turned into a bit of touchy situation for everyone.
Now, the problem is, because of that big contract, he's not going to be the easiest guy to trade. I agree with Hordibrusk, I think that Tampa would be a good destination for him. His wife is from Florida and I believe they reside there in the summer, it's a smaller market in a city that doesn't follow their teams every move and he can just play and not have to worry about the pressure that he's under playing in a hockey mad Canadian city. But, the Nucks aren't going to get nearly the return that they'd get for Schneider, so that's one of the draw backs, plus Canuck fans are kidding themselves if they think that they'll just trade Luongo without having to take some salary back. So, if they think that they're going to dump his contract so that they can possibly take a run at Weber next year, I think that they're kidding themselves.
