I still for the life of me can't understand why so many people think the NHL is the be all end all when it comes to hockey. There is so much better more entertaining hockey (especially for Canadians) right under your nose yet you won't even give it the time of day. It's sad really. Oh well....

Living in the States, this is more of an exposure problem. No networks down here will carry an AHL game or any other hockey.

NHL Network in the USA is pretty useless other than Hockey Night In Canada on Saturdays....

The NHL might be back but i would still rather support junior hockey. I will probably watch the occasional NHL game on TV. I will still watch the fight vids. But i am done with buying their merchandise and putting my hard earned money into million and billionaires pockets.

I live within an hour of 2 of the top 10 college hockey teams in the country(UNH & Dartmouth). Watch college games for the most part, but miss seeing the pros! I love hockey, but won't support people like Jacobs, the old guard. He can go screw! Still love the B's though, even though they're owned by a complete blood sucking schmuck who could care less about the sport. To him it's a business and a hobby!

I like your signature, Broons66. No doubt preparing yourself for the return of You See Them Brawl.

Funny, this all ended exactly when Trevor Linden said it would back in July when he piped up about all this.

Good to see hockey is back. I now have something to occupy my time between major boxing events.

It does cost money, but there are ways of getting around that. You can live anywhere in the world and still follow junior or pro hockey as long as you have an internet connection. It's pricey but I'd rather spend money watching that (even if it is only via stream online) than waste money going to watch a boring NHL game. Of course it's a lot more enjoyable to go to a game live, but it's better than not seeing any hockey at all.

I used to watch a lot of college hockey when I lived in Massachusetts. But major junior hockey is way more entertaining than college hockey. You can't really compare the two. If I was stuck watching college hockey I'd probably look forward to the NHL returning as well....

Unfortunately, I don't have much of a choice. I know, full cages, but I still get to see future
Pros. I remember seeing a powerhouse BU team pound Dartmouth in Hanover in '94, which included future pros Grier, Drury, etc. Gotta deal with the sh*t hand I'm dealt, ya know?

Agreed. Truth be told I haven't watched an more than a few complete NHL games in years. I usually only watch when there is potential fore fireworks, which is seldom the case and the potential is rarely realized anyway.

anywhere between the 15th & 19th of january...it's all depending on how long it takes for lawyers to go thru the deal with a very fine tooth comb and get it ratified.

two scenarios are out there:

50 game sked - 5 games vs each division opponent and 3 games vs 10 other teams in same conference
48 game sked - 7 games vs each division opponent and 2 games vs 10 other teams in same conference

Would they be packing a lot of games into each week or would it basically be normal?

There are usually around 40 games remaining at the target start time, so there definitely will be less off days. Unless they draw the season out until the end of April.

I would imagine it would be similar to when the NHL took a break for the Olympics.

I heard they want to end the regular season around May 1st, so they should be fine. Playoff games may be packed in though.
