SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Minnesota Wild President and General Manager Doug Risebrough and Head Coach Jacques Lemaire announced today that defenseman Keith Carney will serve as team captain for the month of December. Brian Rolston and Wes Walz will continue to serve as alternate captains.

The 6-foot-2, 204-pound blueliner appeared in his 900th career NHL contest at Columbus on November 25. The Providence, Rhode Island-native has recorded 203 points (41-162=203), 826 penalty minutes and owns a plus-minus rating of +134 in 901 career games during 16 seasons with Buffalo, Chicago, Phoenix, Anaheim, Vancouver and Minnesota. The Wild will continue to rotate their team captaincy on a monthly basis this season based on the player who has shown the greatest leadership qualities. |

On to the actual item... Carney getting it is kind of a shock IMO. Nick Schultz of all guys should get the C because he has played his ass off on the blue line. He has taken over playing against the other teams top lines, and has dont very well in doing so. I'm glad he has an A, but he deserves more recognition than that. |

I really think they should have left it with Rolston.
