Uh are you sure you want to be busting his chops about losing to the Kings? I mean, your "King" couldn't get the job done against a 40 yr old goaltender and an underrated team and you're saying the Devils got their asses handed to them?

Nobody was more important to their team than Henry. Not in the regular season, nobody. I think the Rangers finish between 6 and 8th with another goalie.

Last time I checked it takes more than just goaltending to win a cup. The Rangers forwards showed nothing in the playoffs. If it weren't for Hank and the solid defense they would never got to the 3rd round. Oh and that 40 yr old golatender is probably the best goalie ever (even if I hate him for wearing the NJ emblem)!!!!!

And the Kings don't even make the playoffs without Quick.

Disagree with that... maybe with Biron as their number 1, but any other number 1 goalie, I thought the Rangers would've done just as good.

The Predators basically have one star on their team and he's a defenseman... without Rinne, the Predators do not make the playoffs the last 2 years, period.

Without Quick standing on his head the last 2 months of the regular season, the Kings do not even make the playoffs.

Without the tandom of Elliot and Halak in St. Louis, they do not come in first place in their division..

Right, and one finished 8th and one finished first. LA may have not made the playoffs without Kopitar. he's not the MVP though.

Don't act like I'm some Ranger homer, I would much rather pick the American goalie than a Swedish golaie for the Rags. I promise.

Quick was also playing very well when the Kings were awful early in the year. Quick is an awesome goalie and deserves everything he ever got, and if they would've given him this award, I would felt like he deserved it too. Can't argue with any of them. The best goalie I saw in the regular season was Henry, and Rinne is my favorite non Isles player.

To argue that this is the wrong choice is ridiculous.

I'll agree to that... all are great goaltenders, but only one can be picked for the award.

I thought it was really close between Lundqvist and Quick. Both had great seasons and meant a lot to their respective teams. I have no problem with King Henrik winning but I wonder what the voting would be like if the Quick played in the East and Lundqvist played in the West. Sometimes the West Coast players don't always get the recognition they deserve.

I'm just saying in your scenario a Rangers team without Hank still makes the playoffs, your words. While a Kings team without Quick beyond a shadow of a doubt does not make the playoffs. If you're in you got a chance. And there is only one single reason the Kings made it to 8th.

30th or 29th ranked offense most of the season is all you need to know.

If the Kings don't win the Cup Quick probably gets the Vezina. Can't really argue with Lundy though but I must say Marty really "re-impressed me " in the playoffs. Almost ready to rank him higher than St. Patrick in my top 3 list.

Pretty sure the voting is done before the playoffs gunslinger so the Kings winning the cup is a mute point.

I agree with Bobby that these were three very good goalies that were basically even. I think it is an injustice to Rinne to talk like this was a two horse race. From what I saw of him he was incredible and probably faced tougher shots than the others. I thought the Predators played a more up tempo style than the Rangers and Kings. I wonder if it came down to the fact that Henry has been knocking on the door for awhile now and it was his time in the eyes of the voters. Not that that would be the sole reason but a possible tiebreaker for some.

Your coach is your regular season MVP, imo. He saved your team. Quick was already on his head when he came along and their record was horrible.

i'm not going to say Henry didn't deserve to win, he had a very good year and was in the top 3 or leader in all of the categories for goalies. i agree to say he didn't deserve it is going a bit too far. all 3 guys nominated were there for a reason. their numbers are so close, really it could've gone either way.

i will say this, of all the major awards that get voted on, only two went to the Western Conference: Calder(rookie) and Jack Adams(coach). the Messier award is chosen, not voted on.

personally, to me the awards just seemed like a love letter from the NHL to the Eastern Conference. the only person i saw even acknowledge the Kings as Stanley Cup winners was Mark Messier. very classy on his part!

About damn time he won one. Probably the best playing along with Rinne. He should of bagged at least 1 earlier in his career. I like Quick, but im glad he did not win it this year.
