Habs vs Bruins: A retrospective

A little look at some history here, for the enjoyment no doubt of the fans of such a great rivalry. Ok then...

Here we have PK levelling Marchand, This is the hit that has made Marchand afraid to take any others like it, so he now goes low when any player approaches..

PK Subban Destroys Brad Marchand (December 16...

Reich looking for someone he can beat up, finds Bouillon and then wishes that he didn't. Reich bails..

Francis Bouillon vs Jeremy Reich - YouTube

O'Donnell, like most Bruins, going after non fighters, then a real fighter comes in and the Bruin TURTLES

Sean O'Donnell vs Sheldon Souray Jan 31, 2004 ...

Alberts takes a knee on knee on Ryder, so Souray hands out some justice to another dirty Bruin:

Andrew Alberts vs Sheldon Souray Apr 4, 2006 ...

So far do you see how things go in cycles? Winning fights and series..the Habs were doing this for quite a while up till 09..but let's carry on..

Here we have Quintal beating up Mallette to the point Mallette tries to hit Quintal with the helmet in desperation:

Troy Mallette vs Stephane Quintal 09/16/1996 ...

Corson whips Quintal:

Quintal vs Corson 88-89 - YouTube

Young rookie Corson here taking on the FEARED BEAST that was Cam Neely. I can only imagine the damage Corson might have inflicted a few years later..

Cam Neely vs Shayne Corson - BLOODY - YouTube

Corson beating up a Bruin, a common occurrence:

shayne corson habs at bob sweeney bruins -...

A brawl ensues here and it doesn't go very well for the Bruins, although they do ok with the one fight where a non-fighter was involved. As usual.

Mtl - Bos Brawl 1993 - YouTube

Roberge owning Kimble. How did you B's fans put up with this sorry bunch for that long? No wonder you guys act so hard now..

Darin Kimble vs Mario Roberge - ROUND 3 -...

Boston homers still trying to make excuses for why their guy lost a fight badly:

Lyndon Byers vs John Kordic 011388 - YouTube

Ewen scaring the **** out of NEELY! Nice visor Cam...

Cam Neely vs Todd Ewen - YouTube

oh, and this to cap things off for a lil while. Lunch calls me..

Looch squirming, sweating, maybe pissing in his cup:

Laraque goading Lucic.MPG - YouTube

oh what the hell, one more? yeah ok!

Usually this kind of hit gets Looch mad and he goes after the guy. Not this time, he's scared of guys he knows he can't handle:

Georges Laraque Destroys Milan Lucic / Carey...

This. Some people either have very short memories.... weren't born yet.... or have amnesia from jumping aboard the bandwagon.

No. The Bruins have always been the champs and have always been the best enforcing team (even when their enforcer was Dan LaCouture) and Boston has always been Titletown.

Great trip down memory lane when the NHL was actually fun to watch.

A couple of observations: 1) Kimble was a disgrace to #29 of the black and gold.

2) Derek Sanderson makes Jack Edwards look impartial.

They just amuse me (Bruins fans) and I made this thread in that manner. I'm just hoping they'll kinda realize that they haven't always been these "knights of virtue", as their homer announcer might like to think, with uncompromising toughness and such. They are seemingly happy that their tough guys are beating up on Spacek and Hamrlik, going after Ribeiro(not that I wouldnt have liked seeing him get his ass kicked) but yet, the Habs tougher players would always usually just beat up on whatever tough guy the B's may have had present on their rosters. For the most part anyways. I know the Habs have had scummy guys play for them, and I'll freely admit it.
It's just been overwhelming from them recently. I guess finally having a team to be proud of after so many years of not can do that to you. This mostly goes to the younger fans though, as I think the older dudes have a better perspective on things, knowing what they've witnessed throughout the years.

I'm pretty sure that most of them realized it. The 3-4 Bruins fans that keep on thinking otherwise are ALWAYS going to do so. They wont realize anything.

I will bet that this thread sets the HF.com record for youtube vids posted, providing it doesn't get locked up before certain posters mommies wake them up.

You guys are outta of your minds...No Bruin fan will deny the fact that Sinden/Milbury/Oconnell hung the team out to dry in the mid 90's & early 2000s.....Our memory's are just fine. As far as your you tube clips go, I bet there are more clips out there of Bruins beating up Habs.......

Yea miller29,remember the Sinden/O'Connell regime too well! It was Sinden and douche Ferguson Jr. from Toronto that spearheaded a campaign behind the scenes to eliminate fighting from the game. Didnt work. Those were dark days, nearly sunk the B's. They had trouble giving tickets away in the mid 90's at the Vault. I scored loge seats on the cheap. Thank god Jacobs came to his senses;brought in Neely,Sweeney, and Chiarelli!

Some of the Bruins fans on here are just obnoxious, but some of the Habs fans are absolute fukkin' morons. Every major market team seems to have their fair share of them.

It only figures that when I was finally able to tape bruins games for fights-they have Brent Hughes and Steve Leach doing their enforcing, with cameos by Glen Featherstone and Jamie Huscroft. Just horrid. then you had short stints by darin Kimble, Jeff Odgers, ken Baumgartner, troy mallette or Marty mcsorley. all of them were either not very good or old and past their prime. We did have a young up and coming Ken belanger-but alas he didn't stay for very long. We had a young colton orr-but... we;; you know the rest. I remember seeing darin kimble marching in the st. patrick's day parade with a swollen black eye courtesy of of mario roberge and his taped hands. btw, kimble punched the contact out of roberge's eye in the rematch!

When the Habs actually cared about having French players on the team.....Pierre Bouchard leaves the ice bleeding profusely in one of the most famous fights in hockey history.
