With 15 forwards searching for 14 spots in LA things are looking grim.
Unless Nolan and/or King stay(s) down, here's the option I can think of: Becomes 14th guy, Westgarth or Richardson traded, picked up off waivers, or buried in minors. Hopefully Richardson gets waived, not Westgarth. That said Clifford could be traded, he'd be a better fit somewhere else right now. Odd that he wasn't sent down to Manchester to work on his game, he's on his last year of the ELC and was arguably rushed to the NHL. |

Lombardi loves Clifford. Richardson is on his last year of his contract, I would be surprised if Richardson beats Clifford out of the 4LW spot.

he came out of 2010-2011 with some rage during the season that sparked his team. he was wild and powerful. then the tables turned and his wide up style got him caught a few times and he started to fight less and cover up. he played like **** all year last year and became a scratch. i bet if he changes teams and starts to fight a little he can easily get back to form playing and fighting. hes a young strong kid his future will be fine. he played great in the playoffs vs the sharks.

Clifford wide open style caught up to him Even juniors he swung for the fences and fights never lasted long. Little different in NHL. He actually didn't play to bad last year and might not lost his spot in playoffs besides that concussion. He will learn to defend himself better I'm sure. Stemmed like he tried to defend more last year. I cringed my teeth when Clowe layed a whooping on him. Thought he was going night night

The point that I was trying to make by start this thread is that it just seems like he doesn't have any interest in fight anymore. He showed that he can still go toe to toe with guys in the fight with Rosehill. He just seems to wanna hang on until the fight is over. And with guys like Nolan who can fight, and pot a handful of goals a year, and King who can more than handle himself(although I don't see him fight more than 2-3 tops) and has shown he can score upwards of 15 goals a year given a full season. It seems that roster space is filling up with him on the outside looking in because of his unwillingness to do what got him there.

Think with switch of coaches had something to do with it. Heard a few times Sutter said they can fight when need to not when they want. So he might have the handcuffs on not to fight as much |

@ROZZY, Sutter no doubt has something to do with the lack of fighting from both guys, but even when Clifford did fight he just seemed uninspired.

Darryl Sutter used to always have tough guys in his line up. But sadly he's probably changing his philosophy as many coaches are to adapt to the new NHL.
