I'm not a closet Flyers fan. I am a Flyers fan, but they're not my favorite team lol.

Just curious when Lucic did worse to Brown, was that a violation of the "code"?

Let's see if your fair about this...

There is nothing wrong with what Rinaldo did. If Crombeen was motionless and bleeding out of his ears it would be one thing, but people get caught up in the heat of the moment when it comes to fighting. Once that switch turns on, it's tough to turn it off in a moment's notice.

Plus, my current favorite player in the league once did the following:

Without going back to watch the video, the whole fight from glove drop to last punch on the ice lasted, what, 10-15 seconds? When you are in a hockey fight your adrenaline is running wild, you don't have time to stop and think about the welfare of your opponent after each punch you've thrown. If you did you end up with a face like Fedoruk pretty quick. If Crombeen was flat on his back and Rinaldo jumped on him a la Brashear LNAH than there'd be reason to complain.

i agree.but what stopped him or other players from doing that? the unwritten code.i have no problem with any of the stuff that went on,but for some guys, the london knights puck bunny in particular, to say that there is no code amongst fighters is bs. sure sometimes in the heat of the moment some guys go overboard, but in the grand scheme it doesn't happen all that often.

I have no problem with Vinny or Zach. It's a non-issue period.

Crombeen went after the Flyers captain, Giroux, and it got handled on the ice in a fight. Done, end of story or it should be, but Talbot goes after the Lightning captain and Vinny dealt with it himself, done, end of story.

Time to move on. I could post 20 videos of guys tossing punches while the other guy is down. Some players WILL let up and some won't, it's part of the deal.

If he and Crombeen fight again, maybe BJ gets the upper hand and unloads on him. Then what?

Wow! There were a lot of tough guys on the ice. No "code" there, Kyte was throwin' from his back, cannot expect Brown to just take it.

Hunter-Buchberger has to be the ugliest-fighters fight of all time. Hunter with the schnozz, and Buchy with the carp lips.

bunch of wanna be smart marks talking about 'the code'

they just want to act like they know about fighting and the unwritten rules of 'the code'

thats why they are acting like rinaldo did something wrong, when actually he didnt even break any of your precious 'code' in that fight.

Get a clue.

You don't remember L. Schenn engaging Lecavalier? At least Vinny stood up for himself.

So you expect Giruex to fight Crombeen?

C'mon......

This one was borderline at best. Probably should have throttled back if he could have.

I agree with the 'code'. Fighting IS illegal unless sanctioned, getting away with it on the ice is one of those things that has just evolved. Where else could a 6'7" 270 lb guy fight a 6' 200 lb guy? Doesn't matter if they agreed or not. Even MMA had to get weight classes in order to be sanctioned. Isn't it ironic that two guys on the ice fight and get paid, two fans fight and get arrested.
The NHL is responsible for policing itself and it's the only way to go, letting outsiders legislate how the game should be played will bring changes that no fan or player wants.
Listening to some posters I get the idea they would be happy if players started using sticks again.
So, hitting a guy in a vulnerable position is no good, It's over when the other guy is injured or can't fight back etc. If they don't want to follow those rules eventually someone is going to make lots of new ones.
Not every Old-Time guy player wanted to 'finish him' There are plenty of tough guys who let up right away, there was even a story and it might have been O'Reilly, of two guys fighting and ones shoulder popped out. He told the other fighter and they agreed to tie up instead of swinging away.
