Being able to go to a banner raising??

You can't even put a price on that. How many times will it happen? Will it ever happen again?

I paid $300, face value on the ticket, for a standing room only ticket to game 7 of the SCF when the Lightning won it. It was worth 100 times that to see my home town team win the cup on home ice. I stood in the aisle the entire game, there simply were no seats available. Had over 22,000 for the game in an arena that holds almost 21,000.

As for season tickets? Forget it. It's just too expensive to get decent seats for every game when there are 41 games, it's outrageous, to be honest. If you don't mind sitting in the 300 level(nosebleeds) and love the experience than yeah, I can see spending a few grand for a season but not for me, I've done all there is to do and seen all there is to see with my hometown Lightning and Bucs and even been to a World Series game with the Rays but they lost.

I'm as loyal a fan as there is but will not pay the outrageous prices the owners demand and the beyond ridiculous prices for food and drink.

When you drop the prices by 50% and the player salaries by 50% then we can talk about season tickets. Otherwise, the owners have priced themselves out in Tampa Bay. There are way too many other things to do here and spend entertainment money on.

Buffalo has that "variable pricing" thing. Gold, Silver, Bronze and Value. The Leafs may suck... but the demand is huge so it's gold. Fla and Winnipeg are the only 'value'. Most are silver. The most expensive ticket at face value is 185 for a gold game in the 200 club level. The cheapest is 29 bucks for a value 300 level nosebleed.

I think you are way off with your assessment of the Buffalo fans. This team hasn't had any real success in over a decade.... yet they still are near the top every year in attendance. They just had 10K fans at a practice, and have had huge numbers at practices all week. There are only like 10K individual tickets left for the season. My point is that if prices raised even without winning the Cup.... fans would still go. They would spend 2 arms and a leg if need be.

Yeah, I saw that too and thought....huh??

Buffalo has super loyal fans, every year, their building is almost always sold out.

This is not a jab, there isn't a whole lot to do in Buffalo so people's entertainment dollars often go to sports, the Bills do really well and have been mediocre or worse for years and the minor league baseball team is famous for drawing great crowds.

Scoring tickets to a Hawks game after they won the cup was a joke. $180 per ticket in the club level, and the fellas around said that's a "deal."

The real joke was seeing how much lower bowl at the UC was. We're talking $300+ for upper corner or obstructed view.

Tickets in Columbus are comically cheap. Tickets in Denver are pretty much given away.

Locally, we haven't even won a cup, but because of Suter and Parise signing here, most people who go to games are paying outrageous prices now.

It wasn't all that long ago I got these seats for under 20$ a piece with some radio station sponsored ticket blowout sale ****. They couldn't fill the place up against teams like TB. Parking was still $20 back then, so that technically cost more than a single ticket!

Was fun watching them grow, and since I moved across the country I don't have to worry about those new prices! Yikes!

I have never had a problem getting tickets for a game in Buffalo , the last time as about 4 years ago , I paid $50 bucks for two tickets in the 300 level , was not too bad , we could see the whole ice surface and the numbers on the players real good , with the speed of the players you had trouble with the names on their back , but hey , any time you can get to watch the Bruins for $25 bucks it was worth every dollar ..

When it comes to "pink hats," the Penguins are king. They had 18,000 of them in the building last night for their Black and Gold scrimmage. 18,000 people who won't even know the team exists when the inevitable lean years come.

Not to mention many people from Canada (from Niagara region or even Toronto) come down to Buffalo for the games because it's a lot cheaper than the games at Toronto.

And that artificial demand drives up ticket prices. I've seen it with the B's, Pats, and especially the Sox. When times get lean, the "pink hats" disappear.

Yesterday I bought a pair of tickets in the balcony for both a Bruins/Canadiens game (March 3) and a Bruins/Flyers game (March 9). In both cases it was $300.00 for the pair.

The price of the glass tickets dropped down to $1,500 the next time I looked. Tickets for other games are back to normal-ish prices.
