Downside of winning the cup

Ticket prices... I got a ticket for the Kings home opener, to see the banner raise and all that stuff, the only problem was the cheapest ticket in the nose bleeds when I got my ticket was almost $200. My ticket ended up being about $300. The nose bleeds last year were like $30-40 I believe, and the section I'm sitting in now was around $90-130 depending on who they were playing. It wasn't much different for the other games I looked at either.

Today at work I was bored and checked to see how much Blue Jacket tickets were, and you can get glass seats for $100 right now. Those were $5,500 when I checked for the Kings game. If the tickets don't drop drastically this is going to be the only game I go to this season without a doubt.

Glass seats for Islanders games are even less.

You have the misfortune of living in LA, where bandwagon dreams are made and drive the market sky high. I'd imagine prices will drop back to normal when the crowds thin down and the Kings want to fill the arena again.

welcome to being a blackhawks fan

Those same tickets would probably cost about $5000 each if the Leafs could ever raise a banner in my lifetime. **** the wait list for seasons tickets is 20+ years.

$5,500?!?! Jesus tap dancing Christ!

After some quick research 300 level tickets for Buffalo are about $100. Glass seats are about 50 bucks more. When we win the cup this year I don't think prices will go up. Buffalo fans love their team but they're not going to spend a arm and a leg to see them, Pegula knows that.

Just to get two tickets for the season opener this Saturday in Toronto would cost you $5000 each if you could get them ..

100 dollars for watching the Blue Jakets play without Rick Nash? Boy thats expensive

They should pay people for coming in to watch that ****

You could buy 2 season tickets in the first 5 rows balcony at TD Banknorth Garden for 41 games for slightly less than 5 grand. Can't believe one ticket to one game in Toronto costs 5k. That's just insane!

one of the many, many benefits of living in Columbus...Lol. ;)

Well since we're comparing teams now, tickets for the Flyers went up 50% the last time they won the Cup. $8 to $12.

When the Pens won the Cup, ticket prices went up the next season, but not as much as they did when the new barn opened 2 1/2 years ago. I think I paid $56 per seat in 2008-09 (I'm a STH)...now it's $73.50. Gate price is over $100 after taxes and fees - and that's in the upper deck corner, row C. If the league really wants to apologize to the fans, lowering ticket prices across the board would be a good start. If I didn't have season tickets, I could maybe afford to go to 1 game a year and have to sit in the nosebleeds just to save a few bucks.

I think the worst thing that happens though when your favorite team wins the Cup or Super Bowl is the glut "pink hats" that jump aboard the bandwagon. The ticket increases don't surprise me, it's a gate driven league.
