Its normally not, but, in Scuderi's case - IMO - it was beyond dangerous. Driving your hip to the base of the knee is an extremely easy way to shred an ACL.... and only an ACL if you're lucky.

What irks me even more about it is the puss knows it was a dirty hit, he basically admitted as much. **** apologizing, stand up and fight when challenged. He should be praying to the heavens above thanking the good lord Dorsett didn't get ahold of him.

By the way Ken Hitchcock mentioned today that Jared Boll is healthy again and will remain in the lineup the entire season barring another injury. Dorsett will remain on the third line.

And then Dorsett would be praying to god Ivanans didn't get a hold of him.

Your calling Scuderi a puss, but why didn't Chimera go after him? Why did Chimera have others try and go after him? Scuderi isn't a fighter... I would have called Scuderi names if Chimera would have challenged him and Scuderi turned Chimera down. But Chimera didn't, does that make Chimera a puss?

I think Dorsett is really lucky he didn't get ahold of Scuderi and if he tries to in another game, he may get a big beat down from big 41.

CHIMERA DID challenge Scuderi and Scuderi turned him down. Chimera even commented how he was pissed that Scuderi wouldn't fight him after the hit.

Quote:
“It’s a dirty hit. There’s no room in the game for that kind of (expletive). A guy takes your knees out, what are you supposed to do? It wasn’t a hip check at all. It was a direct hit on the knee. That’s the way it goes, I guess. And he doesn’t want to fight after a hit like that, either. I landed on my face, on the ice. My neck was squished against the ice. I’m lucky I don’t have a concussion or something. It’s a dirty hit and there’s no room in the game for it. Too many guys now are getting carried off the ice on a stretcher. It’s just dirty stuff. It shows no level of respect. I don’t care if Scuderi’s a good player. He needs to stick up for himself. You fight after you do something like that to somebody.”---Jason Chimera
I watched the game and on the Columbus feed as soon as Chimera was on the ice after serving a 10 min misconduct after the hit, behind the play he clearly tries to get Scuderi to drop em and challenges him. Scuderi wouldn't oblige him. Which is why Chimera was even more pissed after the game. Then Umberger tried getting Scuderi to fight him, and Scuderi wouldn't fight Umberger either.

So start calling your boy names, because he wouldn't fight anyone including Chimera.

And Ivanans wouldn't have had a chance to get after Dorsett because Dorsett still would have gotten the game misconduct if he had gotten to Scuderi. Only way Ivanans would have is if he came off the bench too while Dorsett was pounding Scuderi and you know that kind of mayhem doesn't happen anymore these days.

This is one of the dirtiest hits I've ever seen, too bad Dorsett couldn't get a piece of Scuderi. At least he won' get suspended, for once the NHL makes me happy

I didn't know that was Chimera that challenged him, I thought it was Umberger behind the play. That's what the kings feed said.

Anyways, if Scuderi did turn down Chimera, then yes he is a puss!

But once again I don't think Scuderi ment anything by it. He hasn't done this before. It was a dirty hit and I hope he doesn't continue it.

Ivanans might not of got Dorsett that game, but he would have in another game.

what murray had to say about it today:

Quote:
Murray not backing down
Posted by Rich Hammond on 27 October 2009, 4:10 pm

Rob Scuderi felt remorse for his hit on Jason Chimera, but Terry Murray certainly doesn’t feel any. Immediately after the game, Murray was adamant that the hit was legal, and on Tuesday, even after Scuderi’s fine, Murray didn’t back down from his assertion that Scuderi did nothing wrong.

MURRAY: “Absolutely. That was the hit of the game, when you go back through the start of my career. The 70s, 60s — I didn’t play in the 60s — that was the hit. Because in the 1-2-2 you had both wingers coming back on the defensive side of it, and that’s where your defensemen were always standing up and able to get those kind of impact hits. It’s a great play. He’s fronting the man that’s carrying the puck. The puck gets chipped in and immediately the hit is there. It’s a good hit.”

Murray was asked about some of the game’s other “rough stuff,” most notably hits on Drew Doughty (elbowing) and Alexander Frolov (roughing). The Blue Jackets received minor penalties on those plays, but the Kings didn’t attempt any retaliation.

MURRAY: “I don’t have any problem with that. … We need to recognize, though, when things go the other way a little too much. One of the areas that we grew, big time, in last year was the response of the team whenever something happened with a particular player, or situations that started to build up, and everybody was there for everybody. You just have to pile in there and say, `Hey, we’re not going to put up with that stuff.’ Maybe that’s one of the scenarios that I wish we had responded just a little bit more with that attitude, at that time. We’ll be aware of it.”

Geez wilbur, maybe because he had just landed awkwardly on his neck and had blood running down his head and almost had his ACL taken out?

I can't really say I'd be in a position to go after anyone right away after that.

Plus, he did try to get him to go.

No way would Ivanans go after Dorsett for sticking up for a teammate.

The Scuderi - Chimera phone call script:

Scuderi - Hey man, I'm sorry I tried to end your career with a hit below the knee.

Chimera - It's cool, I'll accept your apology if you fight me next time we play.

Scuderi - No Way!!! You know I'm to scared to fight. Isn't there something else I could do to make it up to you? I'll do anything.

Chimera - Sorry dude, I don't roll like that. Keep your head up.

Scuderi - OK, bye.

Surprising to say the least. I wish the refs hadn't tackled Dorsett, Scuderi needed to be held accountable and Rick Nash wasn't going to do it.

I am tired of Rick Nash not sticking up for his teammates in a pugilistic manner. He was the first one on the scene, and the game was already out of reach. The Jackets were flat, they weren't going to come back. He should have recognized that and gone in with gloves flying off.
You're god damned right about Nash.
It's time for our captain, to start acting like a captain....

sure the guy isnt a fighter, never has been , I can live with that fact. But his teammate was the victim of an obvious cheap shot. The lack of actions is not tollerable. #61 is taking a ton of heat from the fans and the local media over this incident.
