Derek Dorsett NOT suspended for leaving bench
Shockingly the NHL decided not to suspend Derek Dorsett after he had left the bench to go after Scuderi after a diry low bridge hit on Chimera. Thank god he didn't get suspended, its too bad Dorsett was tackled by two officials on his way to Scuderi. Dorsett got a game misconduct last night for leaving the bench and two minute minor for too many men on ice.

I completely disagree Caps.
That's a very ugly, dirty hit. I don't care that Chimera was bloodied. The fact that Scuderi goes hip to the bottom of the knee cap, is what makes it dirty. And that fact, makes me want Rob to get jumped and have his nose or jaw broken. A very ugly and dirty hipper. |

Dirty, dirty hit by a guy who isn't known for it.
Surprising to say the least. I wish the refs hadn't tackled Dorsett, Scuderi needed to be held accountable and Rick Nash wasn't going to do it. I am tired of Rick Nash not sticking up for his teammates in a pugilistic manner. He was the first one on the scene, and the game was already out of reach. The Jackets were flat, they weren't going to come back. He should have recognized that and gone in with gloves flying off. |

Glad to know the NHL finally got something right when it comes to punishing a tough guy.

The next game should be interesting, and for those wondering and who haven't already looked, they play January 28 in Columbus.

Again, the NHL ****s the Islanders.
I like this call but wow, can't they be slightly consistent?

How does this non-suspension affect the Islanders?

So while I do think this was a dangerous low hit by Scuderi and warranted a response by a Blue Jacket to come to the aid of Chimera, how the f*ck does Dorsett get away with no discipline when they threw the book at Morency in the preseason for a fight that never happened that was also ruled to be a legal line change?
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy the league didn't discipline Dorsett and am a little surprised given that they usually go with the more severe punishment for anyone who drops the gloves with regularity. But Colin Campbell still seems to just throw darts at a wall when deciding on supplementary discipline. No consistency at all.

I like a good hipcheck, but I hate it when guys go super-low like that.
Darius Kasparaitis may have been the all time worst offender, and you're just asking to end careers going that low. I'm glad that all Chimera suffered was a cut over the ice, and not a torn up knee. But, to the just of the original point of this thread - the BJs are lucky they were able to prove Dorsett was on a line change. Glad there was no suspension.

The hit was dirty as hell. I know Scuderi isn't a dirty player, but watching that again has infuriated me even more. I hope someone gets ahold of Scuderi next time these two teams meet up. The fact that Scuderi wouldn't own up to it and fight someone, and the refs stopped Dorsett from getting to him makes me even more pissed. Scuderi hid behind his bench the whole night, pathetic.
Im really glad the NHL didn't suspend Dorsett, but I must say I'm shocked they didnt. The next time these two teams meet should be interesting too bad its so far away. Imagine if a prime Stu Grimson was on the Jackets. All hell would have broken loose!

Scuderi isn't exactly ever been known for being dirty. He threw a couple pretty nice hipchecks in Pittsburgh. I don't know if that one was really dirty, and it certainly isn't any more dirty than the recent shenanigans we've seen within the past couple weeks. I'm very surprised though to see no suspension handed out for Dorsett. The Morency incident has already been discussed, but the NHL also gave a one-game suspension to Tyler Kennedy last season for fighting Luke Schenn off the bench.
