Owed, 4.8 million, why not try and squeeze 9.8 million out of it? Jesus, everybody is so money hungry these days.

I don't know all the details, but guess I can't blame them. Derek's family deserves something for time served in the League. Don't know about 10 mil, but....

I think they owe the family something , even if it is just half the 4.8 million .
Cripes , my family (wife) gets half my pension and all my medical benefits when I kick the bucket for as long as they live , It's not like they don't owe him anything , but I am with you , 9.8 million is nothing but greed ..

I dont understand this. If Boogaard had a wife and children,i could understand them recieving his pension money. But how and why is his parents entitled to the 4.8 million of his contract he wasn't alive to earn?

Now that's a real good point , only my wife and children are entitled to part of my pension , no provisions for my parents to receive anything ..

You would think they were more concerned of who gave him the drugs, F-Them. Feel bad yeah, but ya know what. Your son killed himself.

Who? The doctors, or the government?

Our government is handing these pills out like candy, then locking people up who get addicted to them. And arresting people for having a joint on them. This isn't Boogie's fault, or his his brother's. Anybody can get addicted to this garbage.

Not sure how anyone can justify thinking somebody owes the family anything. Puzzling the way this shit works these days. He was a grown man who fucked up and either way you spin it killed himself. Nobody held a gun to his head by any means and why would the family think they should get all that money and more? Was he going to give them all his money if he was still alive, likely not.

I agree with you guys. I loved Boogie and it was very sad to see him go out that way but I dont see how anybody owes anything to his parents. Sadly I'm sure they will settle out of court and the family will get a mil or 2. Good luck with that blood money. It will never bring you any happiness.
