Just let Quebecor Media buy the team and move it out of this place. They've got all the cash available, the bilingual mediatic national networks (TV, Sun Newspapers, cellphones, etc), a sports channel filled with former Nordiques journalists.

If it's impossible to move in the old Colisée that's fine, stay in Phoenix until the new arena is open (september 2015) for the 2015-2016 season (if the lock-out is over).

I didnt want to upset Chilly too much.

The latest news is Mayor Sraggs, who initiated bring sports to Glendale, is proposing letting the Yotes go. If they do this they dont have to make any cuts to services in the city. But they still have to pay the bond on the arena.

Just overall a bad situation anyway you look at it.

But rumor has it the new mayor wants to throw a monkey wrench into the whole thing. Can you even beleive that someone would disrupt this smooth process.

they had one of the ousted councilwoman on the radio yesterday. She said even without the Yotes the taxpayers would have to pay a management fee of around 15 million a year to manage the rink and that would be even if the yotes were not there. The point is she was trying to make is the Yotes provide a lot of revenue . And the arena bond of 220 million dollars needs to be paid off.

But couldn't they just pay it off with Arena football, indoor soccer, Suns preseason games, the WNBA or something else that would generate more revenue than the Yotes?

wrong arena. Most of the mentioned play at america west arena dowtown. This arena in the suburbs of Glendale has little appeal.

Is the strange, sad, frequently stupefying ownership saga of the Phoenix Coyotes finally reaching its finale?

The Glendale City Council voted 4-2 on Tuesday night to approve a 20-year, $320-million arena lease management agreement that should clear the way for former San Jose Sharks CEO Greg Jamison's ownership group to purchase the team from the National Hockey League.

Who's in that ownership group? No one knows. But that argument has been that getting his financial team in order was difficult with the uncertainty over the Jobing.com Arena lease deal.

He's got his deal. The Coyotes, through all this madness, appear to be remaining in Phoenix under new ownership, putting an end to the constant relocation talk that's haunted the franchise and stunted its momentum even as the team thrives on the ice.

If not lets see if Jamieson can close the deal. It's a bit odd he will not reveal the investors. could they be colombian drug guys? who else would be stupid enough to buy this franchise then a bunch of cocaine hyped drug lords?

I wrote that amazing insight at the end of November.

Re: Coyotes. Thursday is not a deadline for Jamison to close his deal with NHL. It's a deadline to keep current terms of lease agreement...

... With city of Glendale. If Jamison doesn't come up with money to buy team by Thurs deadline, lease terms could change. But ...

It doesn't mean NHL is done with him. It will likely give him more time and see how it all shakes out... I'm not convinced Jamison ...

Will have the money in order by Thursday... But it's certainly possible. Either way, story doesn't end tomorrow. ...

The prospective owner of the Phoenix Coyotes is unlikely to complete a deal to buy the team from the NHL before a lease agreement with the City of Glendale expires, a league official told The Associated Press on Thursday.

Barring a last-minute change, former San Jose Sharks CEO Greg Jamison won't have the money or investors in place to meet the midnight Thursday deadline for the lease agreement, the official said on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to discuss the situation.

Jamison reached a 20-year, $324 million lease deal with Glendale last year that was reworked in November with a Jan. 31 deadline.

New Mayor Jerry Weiers recently told the Arizona Republic that he would not extend the deadline on the lease agreement, so Jamison would likely have to negotiate a new deal if he is able to complete his purchase of the team. Missing the deadline also could open up the possibility of Glendale working on a deal with any potential new ownership groups.

Either way, the Coyotes' drawn-out ownership saga will drag on some more.

He can still be traded. In fact I expect that will happen closer to the deadline. If not this year, at some point during the duration of the contract.
