Yes Holtby did get it done... but let's also not forget who else got it done. Dale Hunter. Unlike Bruce B. who would have played Ovechkin every other shift, Hunter limited the defensive liability and sat him as much as needed to win. Incredible tactic by a guy who does not give a crap how much money one player makes or his star status!

I'm over it, The way i look at it is. If anyone told me the Bruins would win the cup last year and get knocked out in the first Rd. this year, I would take that and run with it. I hate the slogan there is always next year. But i will also say the Bruins will win the cup again they are set up for another 5 years minus Tim Thomas or not. And Chara is the type of guy that will play until he is 45 so i am not worried about him.

Seeing the way the Bruins played I'm not really surprised they didn't reach the next round. This wasn't the same Bruins team that won the Cup last season. They proved that winning again after a Cup season just seems to be too difficult in this times.
The Bruins need just some minor changes eventually to shake things up and they'll be contenders again next year.

Well I'll be damned. Im definitely glad to be wrong about the Caps. Great series Boston, closest in NHL history, and good to see you guys handling it better than some other Bruins fans. http://chirpstory.com/li/6781

Wow, some real classy fans.

I've always said that Boston is a more racist city than Birmingham, a lot of people don't realize it.

Here is what you hear in Boston when someone gets shot or killed for that matter, who cares let them kill each other. Sick but true

I didn't like what I saw when I clicked on that link. Joel Ward is a hockey player.

Those aren't hockey fans. Those are 20 year old **** bags who think they are edgy and clever by dropping N bombs on twitter. They would NEVER do that in the presence of black people, aside from on Xbox live, from the safe confines of their anonymous home. That **** is disgusting.

I get that people don't like black people for a number of reasons, but aren't people like Joel Ward an admirable person? Or is it just me?

Some thoughts....

Bruins played their intimidating style for the first few games, big hits, scrums ect. Then it just fell off the face of the Earth? Makes no sense.

Seguin looked like the only Bruins that wanted it...Lucic had lead skates...

Thomas ditches Obama, Bruins get the Caps when it shoulda been the Sens, Caps win...conspiracy, maybe. All to perfect sequence of events for Washington...yes.

What hell was wrong with Bergeron?

Caps are ultra-super-mega conservative trap team...yawn.

Holtby = one hit wonder.

Peverley shoulda actually chopped Holtby with the stick swing.

I guess one could make a case for Thornton to be scratched Game 7, I thought he should have been in.

Dump and chase failed so hard for the Bruins all series, don't know why they kept trying it just to lose the puck battles 80% of the time.

Go Florida.

Wow, maybe it was Obama's fault?

This was just one of those series that happens every once in a while. The Bruins were both over confident and looked tired, they just didn't have that drive that they had last year, that extra gear that got them through the series with the Lightning and we remember how close that series was too.

Meanwhile, the Caps and their rat of a coach, played a system that worked for them and had the hot goalie. Thomas was only 2 goals worse than Holtby so I don't think you can blame him.

As far as the racism goes, that's not directed at anyone in particular here and I know all Bruin fans aren't like that, don't get the wrong idea, I just think it's a little known fact about Boston.

To expand on steg's thoughts:

I didn't think the B's played their style AT ALL in this series. Game 1 and 2 featured a few more hits, sure, but the scrums were still non existent. There was no intensity, no aggressiveness, no get-in-their-face altercations. In my opinion, this was the Caps' gameplan. They knew they couldn't match the Bruins toughness-wise, so they played a quiet and composed game. And the Bruins couldn't get mad enough on their own to change that.

Seguin came on only in the last several games. The first 4 games he might as well have been a ghost. Good for him though for finally coming around, unlike his teammates.
The one player that I think showed up every single game was Dennis Seidenberg. The German Hammer was a beast in this series. He hit everything (how many collisions did him and Ovi have alone? at least 7 or 8 I bet). He blocked everything. He was one of the only ones that played with heart every game.

Bergy's hand injury came at a terrible time. He is one of the best faceoff men in the league, and certainly the best by a far margin on the Bruins. His inability to take faceoffs was key. It seemed like Peverley lost 80% of the draws he took in Bergy's place.

I agree about Holtby. I'm not buying into the hype everyone else has. I may be wrong, but it seemed like he just wasn't tested much in this series. Every shot he faced was from the perimeter: blue line, half boards, etc. I could count the number of quality scoring chances the Bruins had ALL SERIES on my 2 hands. I am really interested to see how he fares against a team that could actually get some quality shots off on him. I'm not saying he's not good, I'm just saying that he was not tested all that much in this series. The jury is still out.

Thorts definitely should have been dressed for Game 7. I'm not saying he would have made the difference, but holy ****, Caron ****ing blows! This guy provides absolutely nothing to the 4th line. Thorts at least has the ability to fire up his teammates and generate some energy -- something that the Bruins desperately lacked in this series.

Gotta give credit to the Caps. They played their game and forced the other team to play their game as well.

I'm glad you somewhat clarified this because I found your first comment both ignorant and insulting. There are many idiots all over this country, not just in Boston. So save the racism bull**** for someother forum...

Am I the only one that thought Thomas was interfered with on the winning goal? I thought it should have been waved off because Knuble was already into Thomas when Ward hit the puck by Thomas into the Bruin goal. By the way, I am not a Bruin fan, but a hockey fan.

Air-heads like that make me ashamed to admit I am a Bruins fan .

That is one of the most disgusting display of disrespect for a hockey player I have ever seen !!
