Sounds like he's got an ego problem to me.

ARLINGTON, Va. -- Brendan Shanahan has officially told the Bruins and Capitals to knock it off.

Shanahan’s had a lot on his plate this postseason, and in suspending Nicklas Backstrom for Game 4 for his cross-check to the face of Rich Peverley, the league disciplinarian has made this series the most recent one to get that message.

This postseason, with each first-round series no more than four games deep, has seen nine suspensions already. That’s two more suspensions than there were levied in the entire 2011 postseason. A lot of that has to do with Shanahan taking over for Colin Campbell and Co., and a lot of it has to do with the fact that this first round has featured some intense, angry series.

The series between the B’s and Capitals wasn’t one of those series until Game 3, when there was a lot more work after the whistle, more jabs taken and one player speared in the crotch.

Now that Backstrom has been suspended, the warning shot has been fired. Crossing the line will not be tolerated, and the Bruins players who toe that line need to be extra careful.
Bruins and Capitals have been warned

And there we have it....

Jesus Christ........

Now they can neuter this series as well.

Wow. Just wow.

Kind of hard to build up a rivalry with anyone if you're never allowed to sneeze the wrong way.

I don't know if you could call it an ego problem but he does like his players to play within the system laid out for them , if they dont buy in they sit it's that simple , he is the boss and they had better play his game , around here the fans have called it "HUNTER HOCKEY" for years , even some of the broadcasters from other teams have made the statement over the air "WE ARE BEING TREATED TO SOME OLD FASHONED HUNTER HOCKEY" , he has an astounding winning percentage in the OHL around .688 or .699 , close to .700 .
I think the most successful coach in NHL history had the same philosophy , play within the system or sit , his name was Scotty Bowman ..

PS :: I looked up his wining percentage , it is .691 ...

Schultz skated with the rest of the healthy scratches today.

Erskine officially will be in the lineup tonight.

Glad Erks is playing, something will happen but it may be with Thorts and that will leave Looch for either Hendricks or Alzner what ever the fuk his name is.

Word has it that the second line of the Caps PP will have Wideman and Carlson on it. Makes you wonder if the Caps might split up Alzner and Carlson for the night.

Alzner/Erskine, Wideman/Carlson, Green/Hamrlik? This might be the best they can do here on out.

Trust me,Erskine will have no effect on this game. If he's feeling squirrely, wants to mess witj Looch,im sure Thorny will give him a tap, invite him to tangle. Looch doesn't need to mess with the likes of Mr. Erskine. Thornton will be more than willing to oblige.

He'll answer any calls, but I think you are right in that he won't do anything extra unless someone provokes him. He'll be more remembered tonight for if he is an improvement on defense over Schultz ,or if he goes -3 or something.

If Erskine even farts in a Bruins direction, he will be tossed.

Bettman is on NHL network right now saying that speed, skill, and scoring chances will decide a game. He also says the officiating is GOOD right now.

Hopefully Alzner realizes that he is too important to the team to fight Looch. As much as I'd love to see it, Alzner logs too many important minutes on a short defensive bench for him to get caught up in the that.

Hendricks should be much more willing than Alzner to go in this one, whether it was his fight that he was fighting or someone else's, if anybody, he'll be the guy.

I wiss i could post a link bud,but in todays Boston Globe,Alzner explained his "cry baby" gesture, admitted Looch was one of the ten toughest in the league. Said basically he'd get crushed by looch, wouldnt tangle with him. The only effect Erskine can have is throwing his weight around, some good hits, bashing anything in his crease. Hunter should have put him in the line-up at the start of the series to be honest. Set a physical tone against a physical team.

watched the entire thing. not sure how he said that with a straight face.

he acts like it is such a hard thing when it comes to suspensions...no it isnt, you just hired an idiot to help make these decisions...

no consistency is the problem, and Gary is too happy with the ratings and talking about how great of a hockey town Nashville is (a clear shot to those detractors of hockey in non traditional markets) to care
