Bryce Salvador Named Devils Captain
The New Jersey Devils have announced that defenseman Bryce Salvador will serve as captain for the 2012-13 season.

Salvador, 36, joined the Devils during the 2007-08 season in a trade from the St. Louis Blues. He's played parts of four seasons in New Jersey, missing the entire 2010-11 campaign with a concussion. He signed a three-year, $9.5 million contract this summer.

Zach Parise, who spent one season as captain of the Devils, signed with the Minnesota Wild in July.

Ilya Kovachuk and Patrik Elias will serve as alternate captains.

I was hoping it would be Zajac, but I like this choice a lot. I've loved Salvador since he's come to the Devils.

He was on a whole another level in the playoffs last season. Hope his age doesnt get to him though.

Good move by the Devils, can't disagree with how Salvador plays.

I wonder why Zajac wasn't at least given an A though?

Good choice. Always been a Salvador fan. I'm definitely out of the loop, but I didn't even realize he was on the radar for the job.
