Anti-Negativity Thread '12-13

Just to keep some perspective, this happened last season:

Devils vs Rangers start of game line brawl Mar...

Jay Rosehill vs Brian McGrattan Nov 17, 2011 -...

FULL Flyers vs Penguins Brawl ECQF Game...

Flyers vs Penguins end of game fights Apr 1, 2012...

3rd period brawl. Pittsburgh Penguins vs...

Matt Carkner vs Brian Boyle Apr 14, 2012 - YouTube

Brawl end of game. San Jose Sharks vs St. Louis...

And boxscores like this

http://scores.espn.go.com/nhl/boxscore?gameId=400259120

Who knows how much anger or carry over could happen considering the lockout and $$$ disputes, but its worth having a little perspective amongst all the visceral. That said....a least for the time being, **** the NHL.

I'd love for Bettman to be at one of the first new games to drop the puck and have him get "pucked" to death '. Can't think of a more fair punishment for what he's put True fans through.

Why be negative? I get to see half a season of Matt Carkner and Eric Boulton in Islander jerseys this year .

The Flyers-Penguins Game 3 brawls, while entertaining as hell when they happened, get way too much credit. It was mostly facewashes and gloved punches, and both Crosby and Giroux pussed out of having a real fight until Crosby threw a punch when the linesman got there. Crosby pushed someone's glove away, Letang jumped Timonen then did the Talbot crowd shush like he just beat up Shelley...it was mostly child's play. The only old school moments were Simmonds re-igniting everything by getting in Neal's face while Neal went to the penalty box, and the Adams-Hartnell fight. It was pretty embarrassing otherwise. Entertaining, but embarrassing.

So hair pulling isn't old school?

And this doesn't do anything for you?

And Berube giving Simmonds instruction on the bench. That was cool.

I forgot, Crosby had TWO chances to drop the gloves like a man when he was paired up with Giroux and, later, Schenn. Instead, he continued all his stickwork and child's play, then horse-collared Hartnell in the third period. He started every brawl and somehow made it out without getting taken to the cleaners.

How Neal wasn't suspended for the hit on Couturier is beyond me. Left his feet, targeted the head, EXTREMELY late. Then he has the balls to do the same thing to Giroux on the next shift and give the referee a bewildered look when he is sent to the box. Almost as bad as either hit was the fact that no one on the Flyers separated Neal's head from his spine and stuck it on top of the stanchion.

Sorry, I know you said no negativity Hump, but the Penguins made fools out of themselves that entire game.

That definitely didn't deserve a game misconduct, let alone a suspension. Schenn played it up BIG TIME.

I would enjoy seeing some bad blood between the rangers and devils. This is where they left off
Mike Rupp roughing Marty Brodeur. NY Rangers vs ...

Since we're being positive (sort-of) I said this in another thread but I'll echo it here. I think the schedule will hopefully ignite some rivalries with so many in division games and all the others in conference.

Another is some new fight clips! I'm tired of recycling the archive fights, while enjoyable it'd be nice to get some new video's to bicker about!

And who knows? Maybe a Carkner/Looch rematch huh? Looking forward to it.

The clips above are the first time I've seen most of the action from that game, because I didn't watch it. Hatred and frustration is why that whole situation escalated. The Pens obviously got caught up in all the media hype, and when things didn't go their way, they completely lost their composure. If there's one thing that I hoped they learned from that, it's that NO ONE is going to hand them a damn thing, especially not their most bitter rival.

I believe dustin brown has some unfinished business with shane doan and the vancouver canucks. Also raffi torres vs the blackhawks. Also boston vancouver . boston vs p.k subban. There should be some excitement. And since its a shortenef season. There arent alot of games you can throw away , so I expect mote intense games. Also cant wait for philly and pitts.

To be fair, Giroux also threw a punch when the linesman was in.

No he didn't, Crosby threw the only punch, and it was after the linesmen intervened. Here is the video, along with other evidence of Crosby acting like a child.

Pens-Flyers 1st period stuff - 4/15/12

Still, Giroux didn't do sh*t either. He had ample time to take Crosby to the house, and even dropped both gloves while Sid still clung to his. But at least he didn't start throwing punches when the linemen were right there. Seriously, did Sid think no one was going to notice that?
