You're actually wrong about Boston's hockey fanbase. Throughout the 50's,60's,70's,Boston was a hockey town! Bruins filled the Garden on a regular basis! Championship winning Celtics struggled to put 6000 in seats until the late 70's-early 80's! A loyal Bruins fanbase stayed away from the new "Fleece Center" in droves because owner Jacobs failed to invest money in the team. Trust me,i scored great seats for B's games in the mid 90's. In some case,20-40% below face value from scalpers. Jacobs turned it around by bringing in Neely,Chiarelli, and spending to the cap! I personally hope the Devils stay in NJ,Quebec will eventually get another franchise.

My guess is that the Islanders move to Quebec in 2015. You heard it here first.
Although the Devil's franchise might be struggling off the ice and they are most likely to lose their best player to Pitt in free agency, they have a brand new arena, even if it leaks and smells, it's a really nice arena so it'd be a real kick in the head to the state for them to be moved and they probably have some kind of 20 year lease or whatever. Apparently Long Island is never going to build a new arena for that once proud franchise so it makes sense to move them but it sure will suck because they will have to change their name. Not too many islands in Quebec.

I would be shocked if New Jersey moves. The Isles will be gone long before New Jersey goes, and even they may not leave the island - they could move to Brooklyn and play in the Barclays Center if they have the chance.
