I was at the game when he scored this beauty one of the many brilliant plays he has done this season. The kid is an offensive dynamo. In only 41 games he's scored 89 points! Drouin is 3rd in league scoring despite missing 16 games due to injury and the world juniors.

Great goal.

Can someone explain to me why MacKinnon is widely considered to go #1? (or has that changed now?)

It seems that Drouin puts up better numbers and he was much better at the WJC as well.

Seth Jones seems to be the consensus #1 at the moment.

But IMO Drouin is better than MacKinnon. They are different players yeah but Drouin's hockey IQ is off the charts. In the same amount of games on a dominant team he is 20 points ahead of MacKinnon.

If I was a GM I'd take Drouin ahead of MacKinnon.

Drouin has hands like I've never seen before. The kid is absolute dynamite.

2.21 points per game in the Q is exceptional and even better as a 17 year old.

I haven't seen a lot of this kid but another thing I noticed watching WJC is that he appears to have great leg strength. He is very difficult to knock off the puck.

He's listed as 5'11" 176 lns. But he's only 17 and will still grow some.

He's now also leading the Q in scoring despite missing 16 games.
