Kassian threw an open ice hit, on a smaller guy nonetheless, but still. I dont care what ANYBODY says, that hit did NOT deserve 20 games, maybe 5 at the most. This is complete BULL**** on David Branch's decision.

???

Liambas did not "slam" a rookies head into the boards from behind.

Liambes went in with a head of steam to do a check and that 16 year old turns at the last minute.

At the 7 second mark you can see Ben facing towards Liambas as they are 2-3 feet apart. Ben is facing the net as he is behind the net, and Liambas is already in the tetragon paint.

Look for yourself. Use the pause button for assistance.

No, I'm not. And 95% of the site agrees with me.

Kid absolutely turned into the hit. Helmet wasn't done up properly and popped off... There were significant contributing factors. You can't control a chicken sh!t kid turning his back at the last second after seeing you coming... He was already committed.

It's not rocket science.

Welcome to the site though.

Maybe there is hope in Edmonton? Finally, a guy in charge who doesn't believe Lennart Petrell is a legitimate roster player.

I'd prob give him from 10-15 games. Twenty was a tad to much, but like other's I'm not pissed that he got 20.

No hes definitely right. He didn't say Kass deserved 20, but your just dumb if you think Liambas intentionally put that kids head into the boards.

I found this way worse than the liambas hit as well, so 20 games is fine by me. His intent was to hurt and he did just that. It's unfortunate because Kennedy has a history of concussion problems.

I highly doubt his intent was to hurt anybody...this was his first game with the Spitfires, it was the 1st period, he was just trying to make an impression, he's a hometown boy. Kassian has no past history of being a dirty player or a goon, just because he's 6'3 or 6'4 is why everybody is quick to jump on the kid.

...the concussion history is sad to see because Kennedy is still young.

I think he gets a bad rep because he is a big heavy hitter. He lays some huge hits, and people don't like that for some reason.

YouTube- [HD] Zack Kassian Headshot Hit on Matt...

Looks like Kassian slouched down. Was a square in the chest leveling though.

20 games for that? Campbells hit on Umberger was a lot worse..

Kennedy did not have possession of the puck, that is what makes this one ugly, because Kennedy didnt have a chance to defend himself from the hit.

20 games seems excessive for that hit.

No problem with 20 for that hit. There is ample time to let up, and he not only went through, but jumped, turned and put the shoulder to the head.

A completely classless, unnecessary, disgusting, shot to the head.

There is no other way to slice it.

It looks like he hit him square in the chest and the force knocks off his helmet. He hits his head on the ice.

I don't think it was a clean hit, but it's not 20 games dirty, either.

Oh well. He did ****-kick the kid that came to his teammate's defence.

Hey guys,

I watched this kid in Peterborough and thought he was great. Tough as nails. However he has made some bad decisions in the past and this contributed to the lengthy suspension.
Quote:
Former Petes' captainZack Kassiancould be facing a lengthy suspension after being ejected from his first game with his hometown Windsor Spitfires last night.

Kassian, traded by the Petes this week, scored on his first shot with Windsor. In the second period he left his feet to deliver a devastating hit to the Barrie Colts'Matt Kennedy.Kassian was forced to fight following the hit and was handed a charging major, fighting major and game misconduct.

Kassian has twice been suspended five games for similar hits in the past. Kennedy was not seriously injured on the play as he play.
He was alsosuspended in 08 for slew footing.

I was sorry to see him leave but Peterborough picked up a great kid in return in Austin Watson. Too bad he broke his ankle and is probably out for season.

Don't worry though, he will return for the playoffs and I predict will be the team leader with his style of play.

Crazy
