Silvertips Sign Kyle Raymond
EVERETT – The Everett Silvertips announced the signing of 2011 WHL draft pick Kyle Raymond to a Western Hockey League Educational Contract on Thursday. Raymond has taken a short leave from his KIJHL team this week to join the Silvertips for Friday’s road game against the Tri-City Americans. The Silvertips also announced that affiliate forward Brandon Bruce has re-joined the BCHL’s Merritt Centennials after playing four games with the ‘Tips.
Raymond, 16, was Everett’s seventh round selection (#136 overall) in the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft. A native of Langley, British Columbia, he is skating with the Princeton Posse of the Junior-B Kootenay International Junior Hockey League this season. In 17 games with the Posse, the 6-foot-4, 185-pound power forward has scored five goals (including four on the powerplay) and assisted on seven more for a total of 12 points to go with 22 penalty minutes this year. Raymond totaled 12 points (7g/5a) and 30 penalty minutes in 40 games last season at the major midget level. “We see Kyle as part of our group of young, talented forwards who are important to the future of the Silvertips,” said General Manager Garry Davidson. “He is a big-bodied winger with a good stick who has the potential to be a power forward in our league. Playing in all situations in Princeton this year is beneficial for his development, but we’re also looking forward to seeing him in a WHL game this week and giving him the chance to gauge himself against players in this league.” |
