Miles Koules to join Medicine Hat Tigers
Quote:
On Saturday, Koules, a member of the U.S. national development team, wrote that he had made his decision to join the Medicine Hat Tigers on his Twitter account. The Los Angeles, Calif., product had originally committed to the University of North Dakota, before the Tigers came calling.
The Everett Silvertips originally held Koules' WHL rights. Medicine Hat traded 1993-born Reid Petryk for Koules' rights at the WHL trade deadline in January.
"I was attracted by the amount of games you play in the WHL versus college was the biggest factor for me," said the 17-year-old right-winger over the phone from Ann Arbor, Michigan. "I just thought that would be the best thing to help me develop into a player.
"When I got traded to Medicine Hat, I was excited and I met coach Clouston in Dubuque (Iowa) after one of my games, and I met with Mr. McEwen also in Chicago. We had dinner.
"They seemed like great people and a great organization. I just decided to commit there."
