Victoria, BC – The
Victoria Royals today announced that the team has traded 1993-born defenceman
Jesse Zgraggen (zuh-GRAG-in) to the
Calgary Hitmen in exchange for their fourth round selection in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft.
Victoria sends Zgraggen to Calgary in advance of Thursday’s WHL Trade Deadline after the 19-year-old blueliner appeared in 33 games this season for the Royals. The Lethbridge, AB native has collected seven points (1g-6a) and 34 penalty minutes so far this season.
“We would like to thank Jesse for his contributions to our team over the last three years,” General Manager Cameron Hope said. “Jesse brought a positive and winning attitude to the rink every day, and his presence will be missed by our players and staff alike. We wish him the best in Calgary.”
The 6-1, 215 lb defenceman suited up 62 times for the Royals in the 2011-12 season when he recorded 12 points (2g-10a) to go along with 54 penalty minutes. In his WHL career, Zgraggen has totaled 22 points (4g-18a) and 115 penalty minutes over 157 games played with the franchise.
