Broncos Andy Blanke commits to University of Saskatchewan

Swift Current Bronco General Manager and Head Coach, Mark Lamb, announced that Bronco forward, Andy Blanke, has committed to the University of Saskatchewan Huskies men’s hockey team for the upcoming 2012-13 season.

Blanke leaves the Broncos with one year left of his Western Hockey League eligibility remaining.

In 71 games played last season the Swift Current, SK native produced 11 points (3-8-11) and led the team in PIM with 168 penalty minutes. After three complete seasons with the Broncos, The 6’2”, 197-pound forward recorded nine goals, 19 assists and 312 PIM. He was listed by the Broncos in 2008.

“Andy is one of the hardest working and most dedicated players that has ever played for the Broncos.” States Bronco General Manager and Head Coach, Mark Lamb. “His leadership and style of play is how we want to identify our team going forward. We wish Andy all the best in the next phase of his career.”

Blanke, 20, will join the Unversity of Saskatchewan Huskies men’s hockey team alongside former Broncos Kyle Bortis and Travis Brisebois. He will continue his studies in Engineering.

The Swift Current Broncos Hockey Club would like to thank Andy for his countless contributions to the organization and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.
