Quote:
TORONTO (November 22, 2012) Sportsnet today announced the broadcast details surrounding the new original documentary series On the Edge: The Road to the MasterCard Memorial Cup. Commissioned by Sportsnet and produced by Fadoo Productions, the eight-part series provides a rare behind-the-scenes look at the intense world of Canadian junior hockey, following the Western Hockey League’s Saskatoon Blades on their journey to the 2013 MasterCard Memorial Cup. The first one-hour episode premieres Friday, Nov. 23 at 5 p.m. MT on Sportsnet West with encore broadcasts at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on Sportsnet East, Ontario and Pacific, and on Saturday, Nov. 24 at 9 p.m. CT on Citytv Saskatchewan.

As host team for the 2013 MasterCard Memorial Cup, the Saskatoon Blades already have a guaranteed spot in this season’s tournament, which will also include the champions of the Ontario Hockey League, Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and Western Hockey League. On the Edge: The Road to the MasterCard Memorial Cup gets up-close-and-personal with the management, coaches and players of the Blades’ organization on their season-long journey to the greatest championship in junior hockey.

Main characters in the documentary include head coach and general manager Lorne Molleken, owner Jack Brodsky, first round 2011 NHL draft pick Duncan Siemens, second round 2012 NHL draft picks Lukas Sutter and Dalton Thrower, and overage captain Brendan Walker.

Pretty good first episode. Anybody else catch it?

I almost got chocked up at the end seeing Molleken crying. Hard to imagine someone like him getting so emotional after letting go one of his players.

Looks like the next episode will include the Regina and Saskatoon brawl involving Astles and his unfortunate skate cut. Definitely looking forward to see that.

I live in 'Merica, and hockey doesn't exist here.

I wonder if Sportsnet will stream it from their website at some point? Maybe the NHL Network will show them at a later date? They should have plenty of empty space in which to show something interesting....
