Rockets captain Colton Sissons will be out 8-12 weeks with an upper body injury. That is a significant blow to Kelowna's chances of contending. I still can't see any chance in hell they lose to Seattle but that will hurt come the second round.

CALGARY, AB - Ron Robison, Commissioner of the Western Hockey League, announced today that the entire first round series of the 2013 WHL Playoffs between the 2013 WHL East Division Champion Saskatoon Blades (2) and the Medicine Hat Tigers (7) will be televised LIVE on SHAW Channel 304 and SHAW Direct Channel 299 throughout Western Canada. This is the ninth consecutive year that SHAW has provided LIVE television coverage of the WHL Playoffs.

That one is a toss up. Neither team is overly strong and will likely be eliminated in the second round. I was going to pick Red Deer originally but at the last minute I decided to go with Prince Albert. I suppose because I like more players on the Raiders. Of course that has absolutely nothing to do with making predictions or determining which team comes out on top.

Actually, I remember the reasoning as to why I picked Prince Albert. They have more scoring depth, and after beating the Blades two times in a row to finish the season I figured they might have some momentum on their side. That said, Red Deer is a better team defensively and come playoffs defense is arguably the most important attribute of any successful team. Due to that factor alone I'm thinking the Rebels are probably more likely to come out on top. But I don't want to change any of my picks, so here's to hoping my initial pick is right!

Just a heads up I won't be posting any possible fights threads for at least the first seven days of the playoffs. For starters, the games haven't been entered into the database just yet. And secondly, I will be away from Friday afternoon until sometime mid-next week. Internet access will be very limited. Hopefully by then everything will be ready to go.
