Nottingham Signs Kelsey Wilson
The GMB Nottingham Panthers have signed hard-nosed impact forward Kelsey Wilson.
Paperwork is well down the road and the 26-year-old Canadian is hoping to get his visa through as soon as possible. It is hoped his signing will overlap the conclusion of Anthony Stewart's short-term NHL lock-out deal. Anthony is due to fly back to North America later this month.
Kelsey was signed by the Nashville Predators as a free agent in the NHL in 2006. Most recently he’s been playing with Trenton and San Francisco in the East Coast Hockey League but his professional career has been mostly played at the impressive AHL level where he had 365 games at the Toronto Marlies and Milwaukee Admirals, during which time he had 47 goals and 59 assists for 106 points whilst picking up 795 penalty minutes.
He has played one season in Europe helping Salzburg to European and national championships just two seasons ago. In 52 games at Salzburg he had 40 points and led the league in penalties with 231 minutes.
Head coach at the GMB Nottingham Panthers, Corey Neilson said: “Kelsey makes things happen and he knows what it takes to get his team across the finishing line. We are looking forward to having him in the Panthers’ line-up.”
