Giants' Jeff Mason Suspended Three Games

Belfast Giants defenceman Jeff Mason will be banned for three matches following his checking-to-the-head penalty during his side's game with Cardiff Devils on Friday 14th December 2012.

The incident occurred in the second period (38:56). As is mandatory, this penalty has been reviewed by the Elite League disciplinary committee and they have decided to uphold the penalty.

Head of discipline, Simon Kirkham, said: "The tariff for a check to the head is a three-match ban.

"We have reviewed the match DVD and taken reports from the officials, and have decided that it is a check to the head and the penalty will stand."

Mason will miss Belfast's trip to Nottingham Panthers tomorrow (Sunday), Monday's Challenge Cup encounter at Hull Stingrays and the Giants' home match with Coventry Blaze on Friday.
