Lowell Lock Monsters
Sucks for those of us that live in Mass that no longer have a team in Lowell. Used to be a short drive to go to a game. Fun team to watch with Eric Staal and Cam Ward just getting in to the league and Mike Commodore patrolling the ice. I know they became the Devils, but I always thought the Lock Monster were a more entertaining team.
Just wanted to get on my soapbox about that, sucks that there is no more hockey in Lowell. I'm sure others in Mass can attest to that.

They gave us some memories, a few pretty notable tough guys came through there but never really got a shot in the show with Carolina and their legacy of soft coaches.

I grew up in Wilmington, MA (20 minutes from the Tsongas Arena), then went to college at UMass Lowell, so I went to a TON of Lockmonsters/Devils games back in the day especially during the NHL lockout. They were always a great time, and the vendors at the games weren't afraid to serve us even though we were underage. Man, I miss having an AHL team in Lowell. Saw a lot of tough guys come through there like Eric Cairns, Dean Malkoc, Roger Maxwell, Joe Rullier, Joey Tetarenko, Kip Brennan, Brantt Myhres, Trevor Gillies, Sean Curry, Danny Richmond, Gordie Dwyer, Cody McLeod, David Clarkson, Cam Janssen, PL3, Mark Fraser, JLGP, Brad Mills, Matt Corrente, Myles Stoesz and Louis Robitaille.
Also saw some good players come through Lowell, like Zdeno Chara, Eric Staal, Roberto Luongo, Cam Ward, Andrew Ladd, Eric Brewer, Johnny Boychuk, Andreas Lilja, Mike Commodore, and Chad LaRose. |
