Enforcer Vegabonds

Who are some of your favorite Vagabonds of minor league hockey?

Mat Goody: 8 pro teams. Reached the AHL.

Most know him as the guy who got pounded in 3 fights against Brad Wingfield. But in 2005, Goody got called up to the AHL for a short stint, and was even reported as edging out, if not beating, the Heavyweight champion at the time -- Mitch Fritz. Was a goon by every standard of the word

Wichita Thunder Hanchuck/Goody Fight -...

Jason Bone: 8 pro teams. 3 junior teams.

Not the best fighter by any means, but who's style made for some entertaining fights. Even if they weren't exactly closely fought battles.

Jason Bone vs. Dennis Sicard 03/07/08 -...

LNAH Ref-Cam TKO!! - YouTube

Louis Bedard (Sherbrooke) vs Jason Bone (Verdun) ...

Correction...Regardless of what the moronic Danbury crowd was yelling, Mat won the first fight, draw in the second and lost the third. I was at the game.

He did well against Fritz and pounded Dale Purinton.

Steve Reid. I think he has beaten Link Gaetz in a staged fights tournament or something. He was very entertaining. He skated well so he could hit like a train when he was playing for the Sherbrooke Saints (LNAH).

Edit: just found those fights with Link Gaetz

No vagabond enforcer thread would truly be complete without Mike Sgroi!

Since 2000/01, Sgroi has suited up for 26 different teams in 577 professional games at the "AA" level or higher, compiling a respectable 201 points and 1,889 PIM (3.27 PIM/Game). Should he complete the 2011/12 season with Evansville, it will be the first time he has spent an entire season with one club.

AHL (198 Games): Chicago, Utah, WBS, Albany, Syracuse, Binghamton. Norfolk, Bridgeport
ECHL (212 Games):Toledo, New Orleans, Greensboro, Lexington, Idaho, Wheeling, Pensacola, Johnstown, Elmira, Utah
CHL (93 Games): Laredo, Colorado, Texas, Evansville
EIHL (20 Games): Sheffield
UHL (54 Games): Quad City, Rockford, Elmira

Quote:
“In the East Coast League guys like me don’t get into a lot of fights. I’m a little bit more valuable down there as a player, as a power forward. I’m pure fighter here (the AHL), someone that’s not going to hurt the team when they’re put out on the ice. I understand my role, I’ve been playing the game a long time. I understand exactly where i fit in on a hockey team. I better win all my fights. I better not lose a damn fight this year.”

I asked why he’s been with so many teams to which he replied, “some guys have a hard road, some guys have an easy road. I was never drafted, nothing like that. Ive always been grinding for that last spot doing what i can. The last couple of years i’ve been in the East Coast League trying to prove i could play hockey.”

I would think you could include Bonvie. He played for a lot of teams. Off the top of my head I can think of 4 or 5.
