FHL FHL Releases '11-12 Schedule

Syracuse, NY - Today the Federal Hockey League released their schedule for the 2011-2012 season. The 53 game season will be highlighted with each team playing 1 game in Lewiston, Maine. The games will be held at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee, the former home of the Lewiston Maineiacs of the QMJHL. Jim Cain, rink manager at the Colisee was very instrumental in bringing these games to Lewiston. The FHL has set up a website just for the Maine games. Absolutely crazy schedule for Danville. Sucks being 800 miles away from the next nearest team.

Here's how their schedule breaks down:

10/29 - 11/6
4 game homestand
(1000 Islands comes in for a weekend, then Akwesasne comes in for a weekend)

11/9 - 11/26
12 game road"stand", broken up into 3 trips:
4 games in 4 nights in 3 cities from 11/9 to 11/12 (Akwesasne to 1000 Islands to Vermont x2),
then another 4 games in 4 nights in 4 cities from 11/16 to 11/19 (Cape Cod to Maine to New Jersey to Brooklyn),
and then yet another 4 games in 4 nights in 4 cities from 11/23 to 11/26 (Vermont to Akwesasne to 1000 Islands and back to Vermont)

12/2 - 1/7
12 game homestand
(New Jersey, Vermont, Brooklyn, 1000 Islands, Danbury, and New Jersey again each come up for a weekend at a time)

1/11 - 1/21
10 game road trip:
6 games in 6 nights, 10 games in 11 nights total
(Akwesasne, 1000 Islands, Vermont, Danbury, Brooklyn, New Jersey, OFF DAY, Akwesasne, 1000 Islands... all in consecutive days)

1/26 - 2/11
6 game homestand
(Cape Cod, Vermont, and Akwesasne each come up for a weekend at a time)



What a ****ing season for Danville. A very comfortable home schedule, playing only 2 games each weekend for the duration they're at home, including one homestand of over a month.
But then their road schedule is a circus. They'll only be making 4 trips all season, but they'll be putting some serious miles on the bus each time they go out. No wonder they're signing so many players, including fighters. I doubt every player will make every one of those ungodly trips. That January road trip is just a beast.

That's the word.

Kirnan and Soskin were able to reach a deal whereby the Danville team will provide a travel subsidy for the eastern teams above and beyond what they would normally spend on a road trip within their existing region. Kirnan estimated the subsidy will cost Danville about $40,000 per year, or 10 percent of the current teams’ operating budgets.
