Ya, I'm pretty proud of Norway! Although their shellacking of Germany helped that goal total.

What a dumb schedule to have all quarterfinal games in one day. Two basically three games are scheduled in the afternoon on a weekday? Stupid, I can only watch one game...

Person responsible for putting all the quarter finals to one day should die painfull death. And that Latvian player should die for not dropping the gloves in that incident. He would get bigger punishment for dropping the mints than he got for what he did??? Drop the ****ing gloves jesus christ

As for tomorrow, I was forced by the idiots in IIHF organization to take a day off, I will watch all the games in a row. That means I will start with the first beers at 11 am and will finish the last ones at 11 pm. ****

the team this year certainly is playing better compared to the last few years. USA/FINS should be a good game, maybe a little donnybrook like a few years ago!

Marc Methot Suspended For QF vs Slovakia

HELSINKI – The IIHF Disciplinary Panel has suspended Canada’s defenceman Marc Methot for one game following his reckless and dangerous boarding on Belarusian forward Yevgeni Kovyrshin.

The incident occurred with seven seconds left to play in the third period of Canada’s last preliminary-round game against Belarus on Tuesday.

In a situation with several players of both teams battling for the puck at the end boards of the Canadian defensive zone, Methot pushed Kovyrshin into the boards twice. The second time Kovyrshin was off balance in a forward-leaning position and his head hit the boards violently after Methot’s shove.

Methot was assessed a five-minute major plus an automatic game misconduct penalty for boarding.

Upon review of the incident, based on video review and statements from the involved parties, Methot received a one-game suspension and he will thus sit out Canada’s quarter-final game against Slovakia on Thursday. He will be eligible to join the line-up of an eventual semi-final game if Canada advances.

With this, the Disciplinary Panel underscores the mandate handed to it by the IIHF to take all necessary measures to protect the safety of players and the integrity of the game.

Is there any video of Methot's boarding?

cant find any for ya, but he gave the guy a quick shove from behind on the PK and the guys face hit the extending part where the boards meet the glass area and he was leaking blood pretty good.

edit: oh.. suspension worthy? ah I guess, only based on the injury... but you see these things happen all the time where the guys along the boards and gets pushed, and it's just a push up against the boards and its no problem absorbing it. only factor here was the guy being down so low and getting hurt...
