Calgary Flames General Manager and Head Coach Darryl Sutter announced today the signing of forward
Alex Tanguay.
Alex Tanguay scored 78 points (29 goals, 49 assists) and 46 penalty minutes in 71 games with the
Colorado Avalanche during the 2005-06 season. The Ste-Justine, Quebec native finished second on Colorado in points, goals and assists. In 450 career NHL games Tanguay has posted 400 points (137 goals, 263 assists) and 219 penalty minutes.
The 6’1” 190 lbs. forward has also appeared in 83 NHL career playoff games posting 50 points (18 goals, 32 assists) and 28 penalty minutes. During the 2001 playoffs Tanguay captured a Stanley Cup with the Avalanche posting 21 points in 23 post season games.
The Flames acquired Tanguay from the Avalanche on June 24, 2006 in exchange for Jordan Leopold, a second round choice in the 2006 Entry Draft and a conditional choice in the 2007 Entry Draft. The Avalanche selected Tanguay in the first round, 12th overall, in the 1998 Entry Draft.
