Bill McCreary, Jr., who cam from a hockey family was 6’ 0” 200 pound right winger. He was called up by the Leafs in 1980 and played his first game on Dec. 30 of that year. The second game, the Gretzky game, was on Jan. 3, 1981.
Not only did he play the next game (very next day, actually) against Calgary, but McCreary scored his first and (as it turns out) only NHL goal. His last game, his 12th in the NHL, was on January 30th 1981, one month and 11 games after his first game.
He finished his NHL career with 12 games played, 1 goal, 0 assists, 7 shots on goal, a -6 rating and 4 penalty minutes.
