Hansen's hit was the latest in a consistent pattern of dirty, undisciplined play. He knew what he was doing and if the league is interested in trying to police this, then Shanahan should be out of a job. He lacks any consistency in how he metes out league punishment. And that is directly attributable to someone of his character being in this role in the first place. He was one of the cheapest, dirtiest players in his era. Bettman and the Board of Govs were idiots to put him in this position. But we're used to that kind of "leadership" from this NHL.

I look forward to the Hawks/Canucks last regular season meeting in April. The Hawks should have the President's Trophy locked up by then. I hope that game means nothing in the points standings so they can stack lines 1 - 4 with every goon in the system and play a cheap, dirty game like the Canucks do night in and night out. I'd love to see the Canucks taste some of the head hunting that they are famous for. I'd gladly trade a loss for a little policing of the game by the players. Then we can inundate Shanny's office with a steady stream of players that wouldn't make the playoff roster anyway.

But let's get back to reality. The Blackhawks are a far superior organization that is made of of players, coaches, execs and fans that respect the game. They won't step down to the level of play that the Canucks skate at. You might see a Bollig, Mayers or Carcillo step up and drop the gloves with Hansen to make sure the score is settled. But the Canucks will certainly cry foul as they always do and Shanahan will appease them.
As a Canucks fan, I'm not impressed or like some of the things that some of the players on this team have done in the past. But, to group all Canucks fans together as being whiners, while somehow bringing down the integrity of the game, would be equal to me accusing all Blackhawks fans as being as big of an uneducated moron as what you are for some of your ridiculously stupid comments. Because I've seen some Hawks fans on here who make some consistently good posts and don't have their judgement clouded by.....a lack of brain cells that you seem to have been cursed with. But, I won't hold it against them because they have an idiot in their midst.....every village has one.

I don't like seeing anyone get hurt and in my personal opinion, I thought that Hansen was at the very least pretty reckless. However, that little girl Hossa skates off the ice looking like he'll never be able to feed himself again and then somehow miraculously is back the next day showing no ill effects of the hit at all and plays the very next game. This coming from a guy who has a history of concussion issues. If he was hurt as bad as what he seemed and what everyone thought, then I have a hard time believing that he wasn't embellishing the hit.

Although I don't agree with some of Shanahans rulings, he has the inevitable job of never being able to please everyone. But, did you ever see him play, or are you 14 years old and have only heard about him? Because if you'd ever seen him play, then you would know that he was one of the best power forwards of his era, and probably one of the best of any era. He was never known as a cheap or dirty player. He fought a lot of tough guys, even when he didn't really have to because he was such a good and valauble player to his teams. He did it because that was how he played, tough, hard, powerful and fair... with skill. A hundred NHL fights, almost 2500 PIM's and over 650 goals would I think attest to that. But maybe you're upset that he scored too many goals and won too many fights against your beloved Hawks over the years when he was with the Blues and Wings but your comments about him as a player make you look like a bigger idiot than what you already did.....and this was hard to do.

Because you're 14, you obviously don't remember that your Hawks were one of the laughing stocks of the league for the better part of 10 years not that long ago. Yes, over the last 6 years or so, they're drafting has paid off, which will eventually happen when you end up around the bottom of the standings like they did for a decade. But, please don't act like your organization is so great, because they were down just like many other organizations have been(missing the playoffs 9 out of 10 years) and you're just lucky enough to be jumping on the bandwagon when they're at the top of the wave. They went almost 50 years without winning a cup for christ sakes, so let's not act like they're the Canadiens of the 50's, 60's and 70's.
