ECHL Suspends B.J. Crum, Isaac Smeltzer and Ian Schultz

PRINCETON, N.J. – The ECHL on Saturday announced the following fines and suspensions.

Alaska’s Crum fined, suspended

Alaska’s B.J. Crum has been suspended for two games and fined an undisclosed amount as a result of his actions in ECHL Game #633, Las Vegas at Alaska, on Feb. 22.

Crum was assessed major penalty and game misconduct for boarding under Rule #41.5 at 17:37 of the third period. He is fined and suspended under Rule #28 – Supplementary Discipline.

Crum will miss Alaska’s games vs. Las Vegas on Feb. 23 and Feb. 24.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players’ Association, player fines collected by the ECHL are given to the PHPA for its ECHL Player’s Hardship Fund.

Colorado’s Smeltzer fined, suspended

Colorado’s Isaac Smeltzer has been suspended for two games and fined an undisclosed amount as a result of his actions in ECHL Game #630, Utah at Colorado, on Feb. 22.

Smetlzer was assessed a match penalty for illegal check to the head under Rule #48.5 at 8:37 of the third period. He is fined and suspended under Rule #28 – Supplementary Discipline.

Smetlzer will miss Colorado’s games vs. Utah on Feb. 23 and Feb. 24.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players’ Association, player fines collected by the ECHL are given to the PHPA for its ECHL Player’s Hardship Fund.

Utah’s Schultz fined, suspended

Utah’s Ian Schultz has been suspended pending a hearing and fined an undisclosed amount as a result of his actions in ECHL Game #630, Utah at Colorado, on Feb. 22.

Schultz was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for kneeing under Rule #50.5 at 16:42 of the second period. He is fined and suspended under Rule #28 – Supplementary Discipline.

Schultz will miss Utah’s games at Colorado on Feb. 23 and Feb. 24, and will have a hearing with ECHL Hockey Operations next week.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players’ Association, player fines collected by the ECHL are given to the PHPA for its ECHL Player’s Hardship Fund.
