Shawn Thornton vs John Scott

Its regretable in the age of concussions that a stand-up guy like Shawn Thornton gets hurt and is now out of the lineup for the unforseeable future.

EVERY hockey fight fan should be feeling bad about this as it effects EVERYONE who enjoys a good hockey fight! There is one less fighter too watch for us all!

It is very sad when we hear NEGATIVE comments as this kind of thing can happen to ANYONE, including your favorite fighter.

As we all can see, rankings and status of fighters are as finkle as many of its fans. Loyalty and respect should never go away just because of one fight!

Shawn Thornton is one of the better fighters and enforcers in the game today. His fight with John Scott was a straight up, one on one battle and their is NO bad guy in this scenario.

Thornton did his job, as he always does and John Scott, to his credit after being UNFAIRLY ridiculed in the Orr posts, did as well. John Scott was brought in to do a job and he did it! This was a FAIR fight and Scott won.

If you want to poke criticism in this scenario, it shouldn't be on Charo or Lucic. They both have a ton of respect for Thornton and what he does on this team and IMO, realize that this battle happened for a couple of reasons:

1) It would be disrespectful for them to DO Thornton's Job and to Thornton's
credit, he addressed it immediately to keep it just between the two of
them.

2) This was a fight that occured from an existing unsettled dispute
between Scott and Thornton (Chicago and Boston).

3) Thornton has shown over and over that he can handle any battle, with a
guy bigger than him or not (Derek Boogard). And by the way, size is
not a guarantee in any battle as John Scott found out a week ago vs
Colton Orr (Roughly similar size as Thornton)

4) To say that Chara would have faired better, think again. Yes he's 6"9
but this is NOT his job on the team and remember his AGE, he is no kid.
If Chara is out injured, this is a much bigger deal.

5) Both Chara and Lucic are far to valuable to the Bruins and winning to be
the designated avengers. That is why Lane MacDermid was brought up!

6) If anyone wants to critique the Bruins on this situation they can for a
couple of reasons:

A) The unanswered hit (Elbow) on Dougie Hamilton by John Scott.

B) With 14 seconds left in the game, Lane MacDermid was on the ice with
John Scott, the game is over by all intensive purposes, why was there no
retribution then? Would it matter if MacDermid was suspended, NO.

IMO, it was Lane MacDermid's job to do that unless he was instructed not to do so by the Bruins coach, Claude Julien.

How do I think MacDermid would have done? It doesn't matter because a MESSAGE would have been sent back to Ruff!
