I actually watched (parts) of my first game of the season ... and the Sabres sure looked like the same uninspired group of softies that they were over the last few seasons.
I had read about all the "grit" they were going to have now. I had read how tough they were going to be to play against. I had read how they were now sticking up for each other ( as supposedly evidenced by Stafford challenging Hartnell and losing). I saw NONE of that. I had heard on sports talk radio, and read in the paper etc how they were going to avenge the loss at the hands of the Canes the night before. What I saw was Kaleta up to his old yappy, diving ways. A super soft defense that rarely hits and gets out muscled easily. An " enforcer" who is too timid. Ott get embarrassingly rag dolled... so lame in fact that I don't think a vid was even put up inYSTB as of yet....I saw pokes taken at Miller and all the perpetrator got was a stern look. I saw Ruff revert to his old ways. - rolling 3 soft lines. In short - this is the same soft ass team it was before. Nothing has changed. He'll, they even resigned a guy they had let go, and he logged almost 20 min toi. They gave Regier, the architect of these crap teams - to a contract extension. Don't believe the hype. Nothing has changed.
