Mike Gillis announced today that the Canucks have re-signed defenceman Alex Edler to a six-year deal.
Edler, 26, has played 386 career NHL games in a Canucks uniform recording 184 points (43-141-184) and 200 penalty minutes. The 6’3”, 215-pound defenceman has appeared in 55 playoff games for the Canucks scoring seven goals, 20 assists (7-20-27) and registering 34 penalty minutes.
In international play Edler has represented Sweden at the World Junior Championships and the World Championships. The Ostersund, Sweden native was selected 91st overall by Vancouver in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
