PRINCETON, N.J. – Corey Elkins of the
Fort Wayne Komets is the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Dec. 31-Jan. 6.
Elkins scored three goals - including two game-winners - added three assists and was a +5 in four games last week.
The 27-year-old scored the game-winning goal, added an assist and was a +3 in a 4-2 win against Gwinnett on Wednesday in his first game with Fort Wayne. He added a goal in a 4-2 loss to Cincinnati on Friday, notched two assists in a 5-4 victory over the Cyclones on Saturday and tallied the game-winning goal in a 3-2 win against Orlando on Sunday.
A native of West Bloomfield, Mich., Elkins started this season with Norfolk of the American Hockey League scoring four points (3g-1a) in 24 games.
Elkins has tallied 91 points (42g-49a) in 173 career American Hockey League games with Norfolk and Manchester, while adding one goal in three career games with the National Hockey League’s
Los Angeles Kings.
