News and updates.

Ricky Burns turns down Adrien Broner. Priced himself far too high on purpose to avoid the fight. Looks like he'll try and re-entertain the fight offer in spring around May'ish. Apparently he wants one more domestic payday before coming overseas to fight.

Peter Quillin has an opponent: Fernando Guerrero, 25-1 (19 KOs)

Lots of rumors out there about Paulie fighting Shane Mosley. As I understand it, Richard Schaefer has got this pegged as the only fight out there for Paulie at the moment. They're looking at a late April show in Brooklyn for the bout.

Bernard Hopkins vs. Tavoris Cloud a done deal for 3/9 in Brooklyn. Only thing waiting is the IBF approval of Hopkins as an opponent for Cloud. HBO is all over this as well.

Lucas Matthysse vs. Hank Lundy will move to the feature spot on their own card. The undercard will have Selcuk Aydin vs. Jesus Soto-Karass and another fight GBP is working on. Date of the event will be 1/26. They're still working on the venue, which will be in LA or Las Vegas.

Kell Brook vs. Devon Alexander has moved to Joe Louis Arena in Detroit on 2/23. Will have K9 vs. Ishe Smith as the undercard, and a 3rd title fight yet to be named. Better be a good fight too, because Brook/Devon and Ishe/K9 sounds just ****ing terrible for action.

Rumor has it Julio Jr has fired Freddie Roach as his trainer. Can't wait to see how this unfolds and if true, who he snatches up.

British HW prospect David Price has secured Tony Thompson as his next opponent. Fight will be at Echo Arena in Liverpool on 2/23.

Nonito Donaire, fresh off his clubbing of Jorge Arce, is expected to take 6 weeks off to recover and recoup after a very hectic last few months of the year. Very well deserved I might add. Expect him back around April.

Prospect Thomas Dulorme is expected back to the ring in February or March. No opponents yet, but rest assured it won't be a guy like Abregu again.

Froch vs. Kessler is gaining a lot of steam. According to boxingscene, the deal is all but done. According to Twitter, and Calle Sauerland (Mikkel's promoter), the deal has a couple things that need to be done, but it's mighty close. Fight will be in England somewhere, which is one of the hangups.

The WBA has ordered Alexander Povetkin to fight Wlad by March next year. We'll see what kind of excuse comes up from Povetkin to avoid it this time.

WBO 175lb champ Nathan Cleverly has secured a fight with his mandatory, Robin Krasniqi via purse bid, with the fight scheduled to take place March 16th. Details will be announced before long.

Richard Abril is out as Adrien Broner's next opponent. He dropped from that fight to take on his mandatory, Sharif Bogere, for the WBA LW title.

Last, but not least, in the wake of Manny's KO loss, his prospective opponent, Brandon Rios will have to seek green pastures elsewhere for the time being, and it looks like they're going back to the Mile High well as a rematch with Mike Alvarado is just about secured. They're looking at March at Staples Center in LA.
