I agree that is is food for thought. I agree that gun violence is way too high. What I disagree with is that more regulations will stem that tide. The places with the strictest gun laws (Chicago, DC, NY) often have the highest murder rates by guns. Bottom line is that criminals don't care about laws.

"criminals" dont care about the laws. Yes. Neither do they in every other western country. But the people committing these henious crimes are not "criminals" , they are citizens often mentally unbalanced who have easy access to weapons.
Why not have some resonable laws that limit automatic weapons and require background checks? Why would any reasonable citizen who owns a gun object to that?
BTW the states with the most gun restrictions have the least gun crimes.
