I was in second grade when Columbine happened. I remember the teachers freaking out and running to the Aud till our parents came among got us. At first I didn't understand what happened at all, but after I figured it out, I was terrified to go to school.
I remember my older brother telling me it would be OK and I would be safe. I changed my entire outlook on school and the strangers I went to school with. In middle school, of you didn't play football or sports or dressed "funny", I kept my distance.
From a social view, guns aren't the problem. There are just bad people in this world.
I do think that there is a connection between the rash of gun violence and the US being at
war. Just like the serial killer plague after Vietnam. I'm not sure why, but it seems like it.
