I just look at it differently. Lemieux deliberately injured another player, he could have killed him and in my opinion, when you do that, you don't deserve the right to play in the NHL.
Vick is a murdering slime ball who certainly doesn't deserve to be in the NFL. Sure, he paid a very weak debt to society, 18 months, big focking deal, he is still a scum bag for what he did and that will never change. Someone who would pick up an animal and smash it on the ground has a screw loose and certainly doesn't deserve to work in the NFL, that should be a priviliedge reserved for people that behave themselves and appreciate what they have.
Things would be a lot different if I were commissioner in these leagues.
Chris Simon basically got banned for deliberate and wreckless attempt to injure but why not Lemieux? I fail to see a difference, ramming a guys face into the boards or stepping on someone with a skate aren't different enough for me, it's the intent to injure, that those guys have the same screw loose and they don't deserve to get paid to play the game.
It's black and white for me in that regard. I don't give these aholes a pass just because they are "clutch" or I'd have them on my team or not, they are still scumbags who don't deserve the priviledge to play sports for money. Think about it for a minute and if you still think they deserve to "earn a living" then you're part of the problem. They can go collect trash or sell cars or make bread and earn a living that way. The world needs ditch diggers too.
These dumb focks do what they do because they get 2nd, 3rd, and 4th chances because they are coddled star athletes but there are 1000 guys out there who would kill for their job who wouldn't murder animals or deliberately try to injure an opponent or act like classless douchebags or do drugs or beat their wives and/or kids, the list is endless of what these men do wrong but we keep giving them more chances. When they finally give up and cut a player, another team is right there to pick them up and "give them a clean slate". Aqib Talib is the latest loser who is still making a living in the NFL despite alledgedly shooting a gun at someone, beating up a cab driver, and using banned substances. LOL How many focking chances does he get before he murders someone?
