The difference is it took the NHL almost 10 years to return to a fraction of what it once was. 10 long years of empty buildings and changes to the game. Changes that drove many long time fans off. Or at the very least, frusterated all to hell.

Now, the league is doing it to itself once again. And is there anywhere's close to the amount of public outcry, media pressure, or general emotional sentiment?

Season ticket holders are saying "Fu ck you", and public consciousness is waning.....if there is any concern or regard at all. Also, post-2004 lockout, did the United State face the bad economy that exists today? You don't think people will think twice in the future to support what has been such a cause for disgust? It hasn't exactly worked for the Catholic Church...

And when the game comes back, what will happen then? More rules limiting big hits? Or heavier suspensions from former tough guy, power forward, goon, fighter, Brendan Shanahan? Only a matter of time before we realize what we missed, is what pissed us off when we didn't have it taken away from us. Especially if Gary Bettman has any more thoughts of tweeking the game for its betterment
A fraction of what it was? I disagree. The game will be hurt for a while and the markets that carried it before will carry it now.

It would be great for the for the game if people like you actually stopped watching...maybe some change will occur for the..betterment
