Unfortunately the NHL has been subsumed into the "mother earth" ethos.
Whether it is the "sisification of the armed forces" by placing women in combat units, female firemen/cops/sanitation, CEOs. As has been stated Buttman is exactly what this "kinder softer" non paternalistic, lovey dovey, system needs to in essence bring the NHL in line...Look at the NFL with the pink shoes! Under the guise of "supporting breast cancer" not Prostrate cancer!

We have metro-sexual tough-guys today as even they have fell sway to the movement to divest the NHL of the grit/passion/toughness that makes it attractive to a North American man. This "ethos" is everywhere and has affected every strata of society...The european socialist model is crushed with debt, they denounce the austere measures it will take to bring them out of the red, they whine, moan -------------This (USA) is not the country I grew up in nor is the NHL the bastion of tough grizzly lunch pail types that give you 110% despite a hangnail, "concussion", flu, etc...
